Sheryl Crow Details Her Acclaimed Life Story in an Exclusive Interview on 'CMT Inside Fame'

Musical Pals Don Henley, Stevie Nicks and Lenny Kravitz Are Featured

NASHVILLE, Tenn., Sept. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Sheryl Crow has been piling up the hits and awards for nearly a decade, appealing to a broad and diverse fan base. In an exclusive CMT interview, premiering Friday, Sept. 19 at 9:00- 10:00 PM, ET/PT,* Crow opens up about her journey to superstardom on the CMT biography series CMT INSIDE FAME. Crow discusses how she went from singing jingles to being a multi-platinum selling eight-time Grammy(R) winner, and the personal sacrifices she's made along the way. Additional interviews include family, friends and colleagues including Don Henley, Stevie Nicks and Lenny Kravitz.

Crow has sold over 20 million albums and become one of the most popular performers gracing the stage in the past ten years. But before making it big in music, the classically trained musician and former schoolteacher sang commercial jingles and worked as a backup singer for the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. With musical influences like country pioneers the Carter Family, the Rolling Stones, Stevie Nicks and Emmylou Harris, Crow's music has transcended musical genres hitting the top of both the rock and country charts. Whether singing a duet with Kid Rock in the recent smash CMT hit "Picture," or taking the stage with Willie Nelson on CMT CROSSROADS, Crow proves her versatility and talent, and is one of the most respected women in the business.

Quotes from CMT INSIDE FAME:

Crow, on her musical influences -- "Some of my favorite people that I've ever had the pleasure and honor of knowing have been country artists. Like, Emmylou Harris who has really enriched my life. And Willie [Nelson] has embraced me and made me feel welcome in the genre."

Crow, on how country music has influenced her music -- "I think a lot of the songs that have brought me the success that I've had have really just been straight-up country songs. Like, 'If It Makes You Happy' and 'Strong Enough To Be My Man.'"

Don Henley, on Crow's cross-genre appeal -- "She was brought up right in the middle of country so she has that heartland kind of strength."

Lenny Kravitz, on Crow -- "You can be a folk singer and have a lot of soul. You could be a jazz singer, a country singer, whatever. You could play polkas, but if you jam, and you're in it, it has soul. So, she definitely has soul."

Not really. There was some additional info. And there were some things left out. Much less mention of Stevie on this show than there was on BTM. It was a good show. It was repeated at midnight and I taped it then. :)

I saw the clip that Tracey posted on Burnish and Stevie has bangs... it looked like TISL hair. So I think it's an older interview (definitely not from this year!)

You really have to call your cable provider and tell them "I want my CMT"! It's probably the best music station on cable these days, especially when you compare it to MTV and to a lesser degree VH1. Actually I tuned in to watch Sheryl's "Inside Fame" and wound up watching one on the Dixie Chicks and Wynonna too. :) It's addicting...what can I say! And has anyone seen the "new" Shania Twain video? You might say she can't sing, but God she's a fine looking woman!

Anyway, I really can't say if the Stevie clip was the same one that was on Sheryl's VH1's Behind The Music because I don't remember it. But it was an "older" clip of Stevie...TISL era maybe.
It's pretty clear how those two feel about each other. They're very close friends.

Stevie on Sheryl........And I really do think that this is the most important thing that has come out of this whole thing. Was not my record, or my musical relationship with Sheryl Crow, but my friendship with Sheryl Crow.

Sheryl on Stevie....... There's not enough that I can say about her that could convey how much respect I have for her, how much love I have for her, and how deeply connected I feel to her.

Showed clips of Stevie doing the video for "If You Ever Did Believe" and a brief behind the scenes shot, her guesting on Sheryl's Storytellers("Strong Enough"), and touched on the Central Park gig. Stevie got a fair chunk of the show and definitely put in very high regards.

It was a VERY GOOD documentary on Sheryl Crow and I'd recommend trying to see it.

I agree. It was an excellent show. It gave me more of an appreciation of what women go through trying to make it in the music business. The sacrifices that are necessary and the way relationships can suffer was made very clear. I'm definitely a Sheryl fan and admirer.
