Has anyone else heard it? It's AWESOME!!! I think the song sounds great this way. The vocals are a bit rushed, but I think the thunder really adds to the song. The background music is really brought out and up to the forefront. I love it! :D

I've heard it, and like you I think it's great! I like the faster pace - I think the album Illume drags. It's right there with Silver Girl and my least favorite skip-songs.
Does anyone know where we can find this or if it's posted anywhere?
Thanks! :)

I just realized: they didn't speed up the vocals, they sped up the music! God, this is great! :D
Thanks very much, dissention!!!

This is a KICK ASS mix of Illume!!! I wish THIS version had been on SYW...must more upbeat...maybe Stevie didn't put this one on because the song is meant to be reflective of the sadness of 9/11 and felt that the slower one was better? The faster version goes along with the panic that everyone felt and the frenzy of trying to find some safety and answers...
Thanks for posting the link!
EDIT: You think they used Lindsey's rain room for that one?

I really like this version of the song! This is coming from someone who voted for Illume on survivor! This is a much better version than the album version IMO. Thanks for the link!

well of course they did.
you don't have to be a professional to speed up vocals without "squeeking" it, look (http://www.geocities.com/dikvar/09.mp3)
this mp3 is nothing but the song, sped up a little, with some thunder effects added.
an unprofessional can make a track like this at home in about 15 minutes.

It's a little jarring at first to hear such a harrowing song in a dance context, and yet it works.
The remix is not going to replace the album version for me, but it's definitely pretty incredible.
Now, if only someone would remix "Silver Girl"!!!
I still (perhaps stubbornly) insist that that song would be far more effective in an uptempo environment.

It's great to get alternative mixes like this. But I must be too used to the original. I don't think this song should not be so, um, danceable. But if it has others who didn't really like Illume before listening appreciating it, great!

Whoever did this mix (is this official?) finally succeeded in turning the song into a complete caricature. Bravo.

I actually like the lyrics to S.G. but the funky carnival tempo needs to go. It would be much better uptempo, I think.

excuse me if this sounds rude - but am I the only one who thinks this remix is complete garbage. what a piece of ****!
Jeez Louise - I couldn't even get through the whole thing. The thunder sound effects had me wincing so hard my dog thought something was wrong with me! Yikes.
I'd be willing to bet a lot of money that this is some amateur job and is certainly not endorsed by the band

I tend to agree. It's a pretty pathetic mix. The thunder is cartoonish.

They lost their minds ages ago. After all, Silver Girl and WISYA made it onto albums.

It's pretty obvious that it's not a professional remix, but I still think it's pretty groovy.
But then, I tend to not take as negative a view of things as many. :)

This reminds me of the aerobics music that leaks through the walls of the jerk and hop room at my gym. Sped up tempo, slight chipmunk quality to the vocals, and a frantic unnatural feel in general. Annoying as a car alarm. Sick and wrong.

Well, there's taking a positive look at things, then there's just closing your eyes to sheer foolishness.
Tell me, how do you not caricaturize a song about 9/11 when you put thunder in the background and give it a dance feel? Is there anything about that day that makes you want to dance?

I believe it was in my first comment that I stated how jarring it was to hear a song written in regards to September 11th, being put into a "dance" context, so I understand how you feel about that aspect.
However, I don't think it's really been that bastardized. They sped up the tempo (many fans had previously stated that they didn't care for the tempo of the original, anyway), and they added some thunder effects.
Sure, there isn't anything ingenious about this mix, but at least it's not like they've added someone chanting, "get up and dance, y'all... get up and d-d-d-d-d-d-DANCE!"
It's just been re-worked somewhat. And now that I've listened to it a few more times, my original assessment of it being a "dance" remix, is incorrect. There's nothing about it that's really conducive to dancing... it's just a faster tempo.
At any rate, I don't think it's the coolest thing ever, and I definitely don't think it's better than the album version (which I personally never felt needed improved upon)... but I do like it for what it is. While being neither negative, nor having to turn a blind eye to anything.

I'd rather see Weird Al Yankovic spoof the song.

Well, some of you obviously feel very strongly about this, but I'm not ashamed to say I like it. Perhaps part of it is that i DISlike the album version so much, but when I heard this one, I didn't feel like getting up and dancing. I did feel that it was more enjoyable than the album mix. Perhaps you're not supposed to enjoy anything that has as its topic 911, so leaving Illume as a draggy, monotonous BLAH song makes perfect sense in that context.

Right on, Tamara :)
Although I'd edit it to read "I love hearing FM remixes <i>at least once</i>"! And suffice to say, for <b>Illume Ibiza feat. Alvin Chipmunk</b>, it will just be the once! lol
But anyone who has the skillz to make these things, please keep them coming ... most songs aren't about such a touchy subject and thus will lend themselves to an uptempo/thundery remix to some extent.
I heard once there's a remix of 'That's All For Everyone' floating around? How did that sound?

Well I don't think that's the part that upsets me the most, I must say. The fact that upsets me the most is that this is a remix that sounds not professional, not well prepared, and that tends to make the original song sound like a lame joke. This is simply one of the worst things that could have ever happened to a Stevie Nicks song. And that's not being negative, I think. It's just appreciating reality as it is. I much rather hear the "monotonous" "Illume" from the album, really. At least that one does not sound like a joke to Stevie herself and her true feelings towards the song. And I can put that one at relatively high rates of volume in my house, because when I've heard the infamous "thunder" mix here in the computer my parents have kindly asked "what the hell is that crap you're listening to?"
Yes, it's not Fleetwood Mac-related, I know, but I still have strong feelings against it. Good for the ones of you who liked it.
