OH MY GOD!! I just saw this for the first time and - wow - is the vibe different from the released video! A heck of a lot less cheesy, too! No treadmill in this video - LOL!

I love how Stevie and her girls gallop around on horseback.

Can anyone provide more info about why this version was made, where it was filmed and why they decided to released the other video??

I really love the Civil War version of Stand Back. It's VERY Gone With the Wind.....I mean, INCREDIBLY Gone With The Wind. I still think to this day, Stevie views her relationship with Lindsey as a very Rhett/Scarlett esque type deal which is why she has made references to the film in songs like Welcome To The Room Sara and Seven Wonders (I know it wasn't written by her but she obviously ad-libed Tara). And dare I even touch this with a 10 foot pole, I still think Stand Back is about how Lindsey didn't come and rescue her from a marriage she knew was doomed from the start. I think in her heart she hoped he would come and save her from making a mistake. Of course, we know he didn't.

Yes! I totally agree with your interpretation. Especially if this civil war version was Stevie's first video for the song. The vibe is VERY Gone With The Wind.

If the reason for the song is her wanting Lindsey to rescue her from the doomed marriage, I think it's hilarious she was singing it along with Little Red Corvette in the car ON HER HONEYMOON! That's really funny.
