I've questioned Sweet Girl already, which I still contend Stevie says "I want to fly" instead of "I watched you fly," but I have to question another lyric that I just realized when I read someone's signature (can't remember whose). On Doing the Best That I Can, the lyrics say Stevie says "I didn't win or lose, I just THREW the cards." To me, she CLEARLY says "I just TOOK the cards," which in this case would make more sense she it's her playing the game. Anyone else notice this?

Actually, I thought she said threw, but there are plenty of times I find out what I think she's singing doesn't match the lyrics, so who knows.

If it's a released song by Stevie, then try looking under songs/lyrics at nicksfix.com they have most of then there, that is where I have looked when wondering about a certain line.

I always thought she said threw the cards....followed of course by, "BUT I PAID A PRICE FOR IT!!!!" :D :D

One of my favorite Stevie solo songs!

Yes, the lyrics say that she says "threw." The reason why I question it is because, to me, there's an almost definite 'k' sound at the end of that word, and it's not her going into 'cards' because there's 'the' in between.

I agree that it's "I want to fly"...at least that's what I've always thought! It makes sense with the rest of the verse, as well. Since there's no lyric book in The Dance...I know there was a piano/guitar book that came out which you could try peeking at. They're often full of misprints, but you could try.:)

As for DTBIC, I've always thought it to be "threw", but I'll have to listen for that "k" sound next time.
