I just got front row tickets to FM in Biloxi, MS. I saw them in Greenville, SC front row...I was the fan Stevie came back to shake hands with. So, now, my goal is to get backstage...how??? I have some ideas, but the game is on and I need some pointers! THANKS!

I used this technique to get backstage a number of times. What you have to do (and depends on security of the place) is wait around (sometimes it takes a long time) around the backstage door. Wait for someone coming out with a backstage pass on them and ask if you could have it for a souveniour. Most are bored record types who really don't care. Go around the corner, then slap it on yourself and head back. (Helps to look as bored as possible, rather than as a big eyed fan).

The guys just look for the badge. There are many different levels of passes. Don't worry, just get any you can to get you back inside. Once inside it is easier to upgrade. (getting passed the intial security is the tough part.) The all access pass is the only way to see the artist. (and dressing room ones.) You may get backstage, and never see the people as they rarelly leave their dressing rooms. Also be prepared to stay around till 6am. Often Stevie and Mac leave right afterwords and don't stick around. (Though on a few occasions they did stay). So it is difficult to meet them. It was easier when I use to do it, (many years ago) as they were not as security conscious as they are today. (Also I must look nonthreatening).

Most security are okay, just doing their jobs. Some are way cool, and some are mad because the were born too late to join Hitler's SS. (I once was lucky enough to have Christine intervine for me when one of the SS types was rather rude to me and tried to through me out. I was quiet and standing to the side bothering noone at the time. She told the guy to go find something better to do and to leave me alone. I had never met her before in person in my life (obviously) so was very impressed with her kindness.)

Don't get discouraged. It takes awhile. But you never know if you don't try.

The backstage personal will tell you anything, so don't believe it if they say they are coming out soon. This may or maynot be true. Often they are 5 miles away already in the back of a limo. Part of their jobs is to for the safety of the artist. Just hang around until you know they left for certain. Anyway, it takes alittle gutsy bravado.

The other way is (and its very rare) ask the security if they could get something signed for you and they may (at artists descresion) let you back in small numbers to get stuff signed.

Smaller venues seem to be easier to get backstage, then in big cities. Also try not to be too "fannish" if you know what I mean. (I know its hard....)

Times have changed alot since my backstage days, so I hope this is still helpful.

Good luck! And bring us back some stories! :D

Good tips. I have heard that it is very hard to get anywhere near backstage on this tour though

Hi Jazmen! :wavey:

Wow, first let me say congrats on snagging front row again. :) Were you the one with the long blonde hair at the Greenville show, who was in the nice black outfit that looked like the old Rhiannon outfit Stevie used to wear back in " the day"? I think we saw you! And I think that person was sitting on the front row too, just curious, I may be completely off base...

Anyway, good luck with the backstage quest!! You got lucky with the tickets again so I think you will have good luck getting backstage~ I will keep my fingers crossed and if you do get back there, you better post an update for us :)
