View Full Version : Flakey hypothetical situation opinion poll

Let's say you can choose one of the following scenarios. Which would you pick?

- Stevie giving a small concert for you and exactly ten friends on your birthday, but you may not record the event in any way (including pics)

- Stevie letting you read all of her journals, but you may not share the details with anyone

- Stevie painting your portrait, but you may not tell anybody who the artist is

- Stevie writing and recording a song about you, but nobody can know you are her muse

I think I almost stumped myself, but I'm just selfish enough to pick the song.

How about you?

I'm going to have to go with the song too. Hell, she and I can trade off...I wrote one about you...you can write one about me...lol. I wouldn't mind having her write a song about me...HOWEVER, the journals....they're quite tempting...I think i'd like to read them. I don't know. Jake, damn you and your flakey poll!!! You've got me stumped. It'd be either the song or the journal most definately. You may get your song on the 3rd ;)

Definitely, no doubt about it...The JOURNAL!

Picture it.
If you want me to stop singing about Blackdress & New Jersey & let you off this elevator, then you'd better write me a song, lady!
:)

(And I guess I'm in the minority, but the journals would be my third or fourth pick.)

The Journal! It would answer sooooooo many questions I've had for years now. And it would be the unedited version of her life. You just know that when she finally does get around to writing her autobiography that she's going to clean things up and edit things out. I want the unedited, messy, and complete, story.

The journals are very tempting.... but not to share with anyone? Hmmmm...lol. I think I would go for the song.... or the journals! LOL!

I would have to go with the journals, or maybe the song about me, I don't know, I could already see what she would write about me... the title would probably be "Angel of the Velvet Moon" which when you translate that from Stevie-ish to english it is "Boy with absolutely no life whatsoever" :( I need Oreos...

- Stevie letting you read all of her journals, but you may not share the details with anyone

yes, I would "screw" fellow ledgies by keeping mum  for a real peak at the true behind the scenes unedited story of Stevie Nicks...

the concert would be my second choice, writing a song about me would be last because frankly at this point in my life, I'm boring!!

Oh come on, she could liven a boring life up! Think of the titles.
Mild Heart, Yawning Angel, Strolling through the Garden, Affairs of the Kidney, Rock in the Chair a Little.

Without a doubt - the private concert!!!!!

And, the benefit of no recording material is there will be no proof of me hopping up on stage and singing with her!!!!!!!

The journals are definitely tempting (inquiring minds want to know...!), but I'd choose the small birthday concert instead. :D

Aha! Unless I misread, there seems to be a gender split. The women are going for the journals first, and the guys are going for the music. Anybody care to break this interesting pattern?

i would personally go for the private concert but minus the 10 friends because none of my friends are fans.... the song would be awesome to... the journels.... hm... tempting lol. can i just pick 'em all :)

06-30-2003, 06:37 PM
Hmm.. I think that it would be a tie between the journals and the song about moi.
I do think that my life is a tad bit boring for Stevie to write about.
I guess that I would have to pick her journals.;) I need to read about exciting things since my life is so boring.

The concert, which of course one of my 10 dearest friends would sneak a recording device into. I'd also call up a dear old friend of mine and insist that he let us use his venue for the event as we want proper lighting and sound of course. So, you think she'd mind if we roller skated to Stand Back?

As long as you go all out, like insisting she let you wear her outfit from the Leather & Lace performance from the HBO concert video, complete with shiny lavendar top and leg warmers. Does Reebok make a platform skate?:D

Well...I had fully intended to say the Journals. I would love to read what's in them. I bet it would be a best-seller even to people who don't know Stevie or the Mac.

BUT, if Stevie was to write a song about me, she'd have to get to know me first right? :D We'd have to have LOTS of private conversations for her to get enough info...not because I'm that interesting, but because I'd drag it out as long as I could!

OMG, THE JOURNALS!!!! I saw an interview of her reading from her journals, and since i love the way she writes her songs, I loved the way she constructs her thoughts for her journals on paper.

I'd want the concert over all other choices, but the journal would be tempting. BTW, would it count as a concert/performance if Stevie read her journal to me and my 10 friends out loud? Or, even better, Stevie reads the journal and then sings the song that was influenced by that certain journal entry/ experiance.

Defintely the journals!!! I have been for years saying how much the fans are waiting for her to put out her book. She keeps saying , once when everyone is too old to care would she do that. Well I want to read it now. I can imagine spending the whole weekend with just some wine, candles and her journals, whihch she said contained happenings and poems and drawings.
I cannot imagine passing that chance up.

My understanding is the journals are sort of ultra-poetic, so you'd need the Rosetta Stone to really make sense of it. And if it did just state eveything in plain English, then wouldn't that ruin a lot of the mystique? Then I can't imagine reading threads on the Ledge specualting about Stevie and the band when I know the truth but can't say! Like that Greek myth where the guy was cursed to know people's future, but would not be believed when he tried to warn them about things. :distress:
I would have gone with the song about me - but I might get something like Silver Boy. Argh!!

I'd go to Strand's concert! THe next fun thing would be choosing which lucky Ledgies get to come along :P

You know - I was thinking during my flight today that it would be cool to have Stevie do some covers. I think this would be cool because when she covers CM's parts in the current tour it is just refreshing to me and she seems to "come alive" a little bit more. So- I might be willing to part with MLWCYM and Whole Lotta Trouble if she instead sang "Me and Bobby McGee and/or Piece of My Heart" and "On My Own" from Les Miserables, which was seemingly written for a rhaspy voiced woman as that is who always seemd to sing it.

Food for Thought.

I think I would die if she did some Les Mis. I actually asked Stevie like, a year ago as to whether or not she would ever consider doing some work on Broadway in the ASK STEVIE section of the Nicksfix which is ABSOLUTELY SUPERB  with such THOUGHT PROVOKING QUESTIONS. I can see Stevie in a few broadway roles. I know she's professed she can't act her way out of a paper bag but I think she's underestimating herself and how in a large majority of the broadway shows that are currently out there, just how ridiculous it is to act in a musical....you're supposed to act as cheese-like as possible and ham it up. I think Stevie could rock it out

strandinthewind
07-05-2003, 09:27 AM
and . . . Eponine's (sp?) costume in Les Miserable is so ragamuffin Stevie!!!!!!!

Here are the lyrics to "on My own" for anyone who has no clue what we are talking about. It really is a beautiful song that I think everyone can relate to.:

On My Own
from Les Miserable
Music by Claude-Michel Schonberg
Original Text by Alain Boubil
Lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer

On my own,
Pretening he's beside me.
All alone
I walk with him 'til morning.
Without him
I feel his arms around me.
And when I lose my way
I close my eyes
And he has found me.

In the rain,
the pavement shines like silver.
All the lights
are misty in the river.
In the darkness
the trees are full of starlight.
And all I see is him and me
forever and forever.

And I know it's only in my mind
that I'm taking to myself and not to him.
And although I know that he is blind,
Still I say there's a way for us.

I love him,but when the night is over,
he is gone,
the river's just a river.
Without him the world around me changes.
The trees are bare and evr'ywhere
the streets are full of strangers.
I love him but ev'ry day I'm learning.
All my life I've only been pretending.
Without me his world will go on turning.
The world is full of happiness
that I have never known.
I love him,
I love him,

But only on my own.

Yes, LB definitely would have to be there jamming on his guitar right alongside Waddy. I may even have ole CM haul in from England!!!!!!!

Since we have all of this extra talent - I think we should add the following to the set:

Affairs of the Heart (ooo the color of honey!!!! )
Frozen Love (I would die on the spot)
Ghosts (LB's interpretation would be killer)
That's Alright (Designs of Love)

Did I mention the concert could take about four hours due to the ten or so costume changes (and that's just for me!!!!!)

I dont know what I'd choose. I'd go with the journal (if I had Stevie to decode them!) but the concert would be amazing... and AAAAAAAARGH! I cant decide!

I think having a song written about me would be cool... specially if I could sing backup or as a duet... hehe
