I saw a couple of threads awhile back about the albums Buckingham-Nicks, Fleetwood Mac, Rumours, and Tusk being remastered and expanded on CD. Has anyone heard any further info on any of this?

And does anyone know if any of the pre-Stevie/Lindsey FM albums will get a similar treatment? I'd love to hear Then Play On and Kiln House remastered.

Hi there... unfortunately there isn't any additional info so far.

All we have to go on, is that 'Fleetwood Mac' will be 1 disc, and 'Rumours' and 'Tusk,' will be 2 discs each (all three albums will include additional material).

'Buckingham Nicks' doesn't seem to be confirmed yet, but it has been mentioned in more than one article, so hopefully it'll be released as well.

Given that these are scheduled for release in a little less than two months, I imagine we should be hearing something very soon.

Wasn't the date for release supposed to be this month, I think it passed. Someone else reported before that they are getting released in August.

Yeah, I think it was going to be June 24th but the latest date that has been circulating now is Aug 12th but even then, who knows if THAT date is final yet? :) Just seems strange that the only places to advertise these discs so far have been UK dealers where releases come out on Mondays and of course these release dates we have heard have been Tuesdays (US release dates). Weird.

The Pause & Play website has the release date as being Sept. 9th, so who knows. The only thing we know is that it's definitely coming some time.:)

I have a B/N CD that was made in Austrailia. Pretty good sound quality, nothing to lead me to think it was a cheaply made item. It would be interesting to compare if another issue came out.

If anyone finds out any more info regarding these releases. please keep me informed. I hope these come out soon as I am very curious to see the additional stuff that will be included on the new package.

Has anybody seen the remastered Led Zepplin cds that Warner just put out? The packaging is pretty sweet, I hope they do the same for FM!

Wouldn't it be cool if the fans could pick the extras that would be on the CDs. I imagine that some of the songs are going to be extended versions and some enhanced video clips, and of course, some outtakes.

All I know is that they better do something special with "Brown Eyes," or I am going to hurt someone.

If Rumors is going to be a 2CD set now, anyone have any idea what's going to be on the 2nd CD?

Have you heard the live version of "Brown Eyes" from Memphis during the Mirage tour? It is awesome, the harmonies sound killer! Anyway, they probably wouldn't put it on there since its from the mirage tour- did they do the song on the Tusk tour?

I was going to start a thread on this the other day, but now that the conversation here has sort of taken a turn in this direction, I'll just pose the question here....

What do you think they'll include on the remastered CDs?

Now, we've already done a thread (a while back) based on what we would *want* on the CDs... but this question is more geared towards what everyone thinks will most likely be included.

My guess:
Alongside the original album versions, I think we're going to get alternate mixes/vocal takes (and single mixes where applicable) for several of the tracks... and then perhaps some live performances from the particular era in question, to round out the discs.

B-sides are also a likely possibility, though of the first three albums, 'Rumours' is the only one to have a non-LP b-side... and I think it's a pretty safe bet that "Silver Springs" will be included one way or the other.

I think demos are pretty much out of the question, unless perhaps they included a demo version of a song which was released later... such as "That's Alright," or "Smile At You."
But I highly, highly doubt they'd include the demo for a song that still hasn't been released... like "If You Were My Love," for example.

Anyway, those are my thoughts... hopefully we'll all soon know for sure! :)

I agree Johnny Stew, I was thinking the same thing. :)

I don't know if this will disappoint or wrongfully give high hopes to anyone but I just thought I'd include this (attached) to give an idea as to what Rhino had done (as an example) on expanding the Velvet Underground's "Loaded" album to 2 CD's a few years ago. Hope some find it interesting. Even if you don't know much about thier catalog, you'll get the pattern and I think Johnny Stew hit it right on the nose. :)

No, I didn't even know they did it live...considering "Brown Eyes" is my favorite Fleetwood Mac song, this comes as a shock. :D I would love to hear it (Hint to anyone who can post it!!!:) )

I was also thinking about what would be on the new discs. Would they even put demos on. I know that any outtake-quality songs have a good chance of being put on there -- but I don't know if they are going to choose demos for extras.

One of my big questions is...how long is it going to be after this batch of discs are released until they do it for "Mirage," "Tango In the Night," and "Behind the Mask(????)" I know they are just probably going to skip over "Greatest Hits" because all its tracks are on the "Very Best Of". Another question: Will they include "Live" or will "Fireflies,""One More Night," and "The Farmer's Daughter" be included on "Tusk"

Say You Will, Christine's new CD, and then this all in one year...it's too much. And strangely, still not enough:confused:

I think if the first batch of remasters sells well, then we'll definitely see a second batch... which I think would most likely contain 'Fleetwood Mac Live,' 'Mirage,' and 'Tango In The Night.'

'Live' can VERY easily be expanded (yet keeping the set to 2 discs), as there are dozens upon dozens of live recordings from the 'Tusk' tour, which could easily be added to the album.
Songs like "The Chain," "You Make Loving Fun," "Sisters Of The Moon," "Angel," and "Second Hand News"... all of which should have been included the first time around, had they not been limited by the capacity of a vinyl record.

'Mirage' could probably be released on only 1 disc, and would most likely include "Cool Water," "Goodbye Angel," "Teen Beat," and the single edits of "Love In Store," and "Gypsy."

For completist's sake, they could actually include all the versions of "Gypsy"... the original album edit; the "alternate unedited version," from 'The Chain;' the single edit; and the video version (of which, technically, there are two).
But that might be a bit much.

If I were making the decisions, I would at least include the 2nd video version (the first video version has a longer instrumental ending, but the second video version features some extra vocals, similar to the "alternate unedited version").

And there's 'Tango'... which should definitely be expanded to 2 discs.
Disc One could feature the non-LP b-sides, and the second disc could feature the extended remixes, and the remix-edits.

I don't see 'Behind The Mask,' or 'Time,' being re-released any time soon, as, sadly, I just don't think the demand is there.
Hopefully Fleetwood Mac's entire Warner Bros. catalog will eventually be remastered though.

(I also think Atlantic should re-master and expand Stevie's catalog... at the very least, the first three albums.)

Regardless of whether or not they sell well (which I'm sure they'll do okay, at least with the fans), I'm pretty sure they'll release the rest of the albums up to Tango. Rhino is doing them, right? They remastered the Blondie albums a couple of years ago (all the albums within two weeks) and really did a bang-up job with them. Demos, outtake, live versions, extended versions, covers; the works. Plus the original album art. I wouldn't be surprised if they're working on more as we speak! *crosses fingers*

PS: Will we ever see the DVD-A of TISL?!?!

Yup, when I spoke to David McLees, he said all the WB/Reprise FM albums will be done up by Rhino on CD and he said that the BN era one would be done first so I think it is safe to assume that "Live", "Mirage" & TITN will be the "next batch" to be done after FM (1975), "Rumours" & "Tusk" (though he wouldn't say when that next batch would be done but they WILL be done at some point AND regardless of sales (from what I understood of what he said). YAY! :)

I definitely hope that McLees proves true to his word, and FM's entire Warners catalog is remastered and re-released.

I also hope that sales have no bearing on whether or not there are releases beyond the initial batch.

By the way, John... thanks for posting that Velvet Underground re-master track-listing.
These Mac re-masters have all the potential to be pretty fab... just so long as we remain somewhat reasonable in regards to what we hope they might include. :)

You're very welcome, glad it was of some interest. :)

Yeah, I'm not going to expect too much regarding the extras so that way if there's not much in the way of extras then that's OK because that's what I'll be bracing myself for and if there is a lot of extras then GREAT! :)

I agree that it does seem kind of strange that they would press on with it "regardless of sales", whether they admit that's what they really want or not but I'll continue to think optimistically about what we've heard about this so far anyways but in a low profile way. :)
