I think it was an incredible show. I really hope mick will put out
those ''lost tapes'' from 1977. it was also intresting to see stevie
get angry.

It is going to be on tonight at 11, but VH1 is also showing it right now.

This footage of the recording of Say You Will is unreal. Stevie playing with that singing fish...priceless. And Lindsey telling Stevie he was going to cry. Wow.

Can't wait until tonight, so that I can watch ALL of this, instead of just the last 15 minutes!

I hope anybody not wanting spoilers reads this thread---I'm not going to spoily mc spoilerson anything else (I'm being nice? :))

*spoiler space*

So...holy crap. I can't wait for this DVD documentary to come out. I agree with Josh...when Lindsey was talking to Stevie and was going to cry...HOLY CRAP.

Mick even amused me. And John had some amazing one liners.

And Stevie talking about her black wardrobe..."...black just makes you look slimmer. Da da da!" I was laughing so much, it was just perfect.

At one point Stevie's up on the couch complaining that Lindsey "won't like her song because SHE WROTE IT" it was cute.

Only drawback....it was only 1/2 hour! Boooooooo!

There were parts that were never revisited, like clips when Stevie said something to the effect of "this isn't art, this is financial." I was so intrigued...who was she talking about? ;)

And in the credits, (it went by fast) Stevie hugs Lindsey after the Columbus show (which they highlight because it was the first one)...she's in the pink shawl and stuff, it was sweet.

you can watch what I presume is a sniglet of the show. They are talking about going on the road. SN says if you want to to all hits during the concert, they why put out a new record. It is a pretty cool interview in which all four speak (John says we four - used to be five - have this chemistry). Finally, could Stevie's top be any cooler (I think that is dragon on it ? )

That was pretty freaking fabulous!!! I had low expectations of that show and I must admit, it totally exceeded what I had initially thought. And yes, I've never really thought of them as anything but normal people with a lot of money and amazing jobs but this really humanizes them even more-so than ever before. If you guys didn't catch it this morning, make sure you watch it tonight...it's really good and there is SO much more for us to look forward to this year but I won't spoil it for those of you who'd rather be surprised and watch the show for yourself tonight...all i'll say is THANK YOU LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM

OH i completely agree...what a great show! I was so glad that they didn't dwell so much on the whole Rumours thing like most of these shows normally do...and some of that old footage was so great! Of course, some of us have already seen a lot of it(from the Rumours tour in Japan) And that part where Lindsey is starting to cry, how great is that? Oh yeah, and the part when Stevie said that when she's 80 and Lindsey's 79, she'll be chasing him around with her walker...that was so cute!

And I second that GardenStateGirlie...Thank you SO MUCH LindsEy Buckingham!

I tried to save the sniglet to my hard drive but was told I could do it. Does anyone know how to do that?

Also, Stevie is once again being filmed with a HUGE key light directly in front of her (this reduces age and lines in the face) , is also flawlessly lit from just about every other angle, and there may be a little oil on that lens

Conversely, John, Mick, and LB look like they are being flimed in a cafeteria lit by flourescant lights when compared to the glowing penumbra around La Nicks

Yep.
That was pretty much the best Fleetwood Mac documentary ever. Most of specials just rehash the same of footage, and the same old concerts... But we saw new and vintage stuff that is rarely -if ever - seen. Quick and concise and very funny too. Really gives MORE intrigue to an already fascinating band!

This was great... I really enjoyed it. Though I have to echo the "it wasn't long enough" statements.
For Fleetwood Mac fans, too much is never enough.

I really hope the 'Making of Say You Will' documentary sees the light of day, as well as the "basement tapes."
We'd be discussing/debating/analyzing those for YEARS here on The Ledge!

I wonder which song Stevie was saying she just knew Lindsey wouldn't like.
Who wants to bet it was "Silver Girl"?!? *hehehe*

(Actually, I'm still of the mind that that song would have been much more effective, if done in a more upbeat, perky way... like "What's The World Coming To.")

Through it all, you really do get a sense of love and tenderness from these people.
Even Stevie and Lindsey, and all their intensity and stubbornness, you know that at the end of the day they do care about each other.

But isn't that the best of both worlds? Enough love to keep them wanting to work with each other, but enough tension to keep the music from ever going stale. :)

It was just so FUNNY to actually see Stevie and Lindsey having an argument that was THAT heated. Honestly, I could never really picture them arguing like that. It is absolutely KILLING me that they never mentioned what song they were talking about. I don't think it's Silver Girl for the simple reason that I'd think it would be one of the songs that has to do with Lindsey, or is POTENTIALLY about Lindsey (maybe Everybody Finds Out?!? ;) ) But, I really enjoyed this special. I think they should have made it an hour though and shown a few songs being done live at the Columbus show (Running through the Garden would have been nice to see since only the Columbus audience saw it). But my God, seeing Stevie so worked up was just so...FUNNY! Hopefully this will boost SYW sales a little too.

Congrats to VH1! I think they did a great job with the 30 minutes they showed us. Yes longer would have been nice and could have easily been done. I was drawn to the tv though and holding my breath through most of it though, just waiting for something bad and negative. It was very positive I thought. I think it was great! I also can't wait for the documentary to come out...I wonder if that was the line that Stevie said, " This is not art...its finances" or something like that.
Loved it all!! I think we even got to see little William too on one part. They all look so much happier now.
Its great to see. :)

I loved it!

I got the impression that...that part that's showing Fleetwood Mac in Japan and Mick is saying something like Stevie was playing around with the roadies and you see her sort of, dancing all over the place, and she comes up to the camera, laughing. Yeah, I got the impression that she might be like that when she was high. Heh. Funny. :)

Much of that "Japan" footage can be obtained from ebay. And it's incredible back stage stuff. But I sure as hell would like to see the entire...what was it? SEVENTEEN hours ? of film from this time period that Mick found. I would have to change my panties after that! ;)

That was way too short. What is Stevie getting so animated about with the "He'll hate it!" thing? I laughed so hard when she said she'd still be swinging her walker at LB when she's 80. You know she means it! Also, for some reason I got teary when she whipped out the original Stand Back cape. I loved the way she looked right into the camera and said something about "all those people who thought I was a witch because I wore black." That black and white segment of him getting choked up and her looking out the window was another teary moment. Low point? Mick in his underwear.

Yes, about 2 and 1/2 hours of the Japan footage is available through a bootleg called "Fleetwood Mac Rumours Tour 77". It circulated as 2 tapes with the Rosebud Video in front. Its an excellent video....

I agree. I read the lyrics before I heard the song and thought they were great. Then, when I heard the door chime opening to that song, I was disappointed. It would have made a much better uptempo song.

Word. LOL. I thought the lyrics were amazing and then I heard the song and was like...eh...not so much...It has grown on me though and I do really like it now. Oh, and did I get all teary eyed like a baby when Lindsey was getting all emotional?? Gawd..those two... i am *so* intrigued by their relationship...it's never going to be over really and I think Lindsey hit the nail on the head when he said this is the opening of closure but not really closure...those two are attached by something so special and it really is amazing to watch them. And yes, I truly do believe that when she's 80, she will be swinging her walker at him...LOL! I was so glad to see John speak too!! And ya know, i'm not the biggest Mick fan but I thought he was pretty funny and I enjoyed hearing him. And I really do think that either Stevie herself or Karen or someone closely connected to Stevie reads the Ledge hence her statements about why she doesn't wear color...lol...I think she caught wind of our BLACK DRESS thread  Ahh...Fleetwood Mac/Stevie/Lindsey..how I love thee...let me count the ways  I seriously do love them now more than ever after having watched this.

Thats too funny! I thought the same thing when she said this. Hopefully next time I see this on I will not have a skwaking 4 year old in my face, and can catch some more of the dialog! Thank God my grandma called me and told me to turn it on, I had no idea it was even coming on! great show, I enjoyed every minute of it...the old footage, the new footage, the Columbus show reheasals...did everyone hear the live version of Destiny Rules??!!!

I, too, had that feeling that somehow, Stevie, may be getting info from the Ledge, she mentioned two subjects we've discussed in great detail: the black dress and the singing of new material. Who knows? it's probably because the Ledge ends up discussing everything FM down to the smallest detail!!!

Like any FM fan, I wanted the show to be an hour but being a 1/2 hour long show is probably better for exposure. VH1 can schedule the show in more time slots and use it as a quick replacement if needed for the rest of the year especially now that the whole FM tour will be doing a second leg in the US.

I am totally looking forward to Lindsey's video, hopefully, he will not pull a Mick and put these precious tapes in his basement.

thanks tgee!!! for putting the video on the Net!!! FM fans rule!! :wavey: ... I'm mature :D

I have to say, surprisingly, I did enjoy that. Considering VH1's history, and when I saw that they were only giving this show a half hour, I really was annoyed and all expectations went in the toilet. But getting past the length issue for a second...it was a good show. The documentary footage really made it. :)

I love that line when CM says something like "If you want to know what it feels like to be to be a rock and roll sex symbol - ask Stevie Nicks!!!"

This is from the infamous Japan footage. I have a tape somewhere of this. It is hysterical - they are all very, very, wasted toward the end and still giving interviews. I think CM hauls out a picture from her wallet of her dog and goes into this big story about the dog. CM smokes and drinks the ENTIRE time. Stevie also slightly freaks out while on a trip and basically goes into a trance and just stares at Robin.

Trippy stuff!!!!

I totally enjoyed this show! I couldn't believe all the info they crammed into a half hour. It was just really great.

I loved how fired up Stevie got when talking about whatever song she was talking about..lol. I also really loved the emotional moment between Stevie and Lindsey.. when he started to cry and she turned away from the camera. It just made them more human to me. I could have lived without seeing Mick in his underwear.. but that was a small price to pay. I hope they release Lindsey's documentary soon.. that would really be something worth seeing too! One of my favorite moments was definitely Stevie's closet.. too cool! I also almost fell off my chair when they showed Stevie kiss Lindsey at the end of Landslide.. that was great! VH1 finally did a wonderful job!

Oh, and I said it before and I'll say it again, I totally think that someone is reading these boards especially now that i've gone back and watched it again. The entire segment of that part of the interview is just hysterical. CM appears pretty lit and is pretty much chain smoking. She also goes into about she and Stevie have discussed Stevie sex symbol thing and they are OK with it and also discusses Stevie dancing on stage and how it adds to the show - otherwise it would not be there. Other than the obvious intoxication of all parties, which in an of itself is highly entertaining in a twisted way (hey it was the late 70's  ), the interviews are very straightforward and enlightening. I will look for my copy, but am pretty much clueless as to where it is if I even still have it.

I had to chime in and say how much I agree with everyone else. This was an incredible show! Knowing that it was only going to be 1/2 hour, I was expecting 10 minutes of footage and 20 minutes of commercials for the lastest VH1 countdown of crap. But what a surprise!

I'm surprised it was Lindsey's idea to do the making of documentary. That just doesn't seem like something he would go for, but it's interesting to know. I just hope it does see the light of day soon. Did anyone else get a "reality show" vibe from the making of footage? Maybe I've been watching too much of The Osbournes, but I can totally see this stuff playing out in an actual series form, from the time Stevie arrives at the house to record and into the tour.

If and when it does get release on DVD, I hope it's a massive set, with the making of the album, before and during the tour, and an actual full length concert. That would be an incredible package. I hope that the cameras are still following them throughout the tour. Wouldn't it be cool to hear them discussing, say, dropping Destiny Rules and why they did it?

Thank you VH1!!!

I loved the special, I just wish it had been longer and that there will be an official documentary with this kind of stuff. Also like I said in a prior thread on Led Zep fans get a DVD but what do Mac fans get? I told you Mick is sitting on a pile of good stuff that he needs to unearth and release.
I laughed when Mick was on that stepper machine saying he felt like a rat in a wheel!
Christine was funny with that sex symbol remark "Ask Stevie Nicks.."
Lindsey saying that he has no allies in the group and he is always named the bad guy.
Lindsey getting emotional with Stevie was so sweet and touching.
By the way, I have the fish that Stevie was playing with! He is rather funny!

Funny though with Lindsey...he says that this is not closure for him and Stevie but the beginning of closure. Did he not say that during the Dance tour interviews?? I dont think they will ever have closure...too much attraction and memories.... ;)

Well, I have finally seen it on a televsion as opposed to the comp. copy on Tracy's site (kudos to burnish.net!!!!!).

I must say Stevie look fantastic, almost beyond words, in her interview. Also, I think they are hamming it up just a little bit with the arguments, but "we'll never really know" what is real, etc., to paraphrase Stevie. Poor LB has no allies. Also, does anyone else think some of these comments were perhaps made in one context and then editted into another. For example, we have no frame of reference for SN's comment about this not being about art but about finance, etc. She could have been talking about anything much less her music

One of the sweetest things was in the final five seconds Stevie is in her pink shawl and is hugging in what looks like joy and relief all at one time her brother Chris after the show and apparently is crying. It happens very fast, but it caught my eye.

Also, don't you love when they put the album or CD track over the live performances like Stevie in Rhiannon from the Mirage tour or when they are playing, I think, Sara and showing Stevie during The Chain on the Tusk tour. Finally, it was nice to see the boots instead of the Reeboks.

I want that DVD and I want it NNNOOWWW!!!

[i]I must say Stevie look fantastic, almost beyond words, in her interview. Also, I think they are hamming it up just a little bit with the arguments, but "we'll never really know" what is real, etc., to paraphrase Stevie. Poor LB has no allies. Also, does anyone else think some of these comments were perhaps made in one context and then editted into another. I was thinking the same thing. Those were probably edited out of the proper context. I do think Miss Nicks is far more dollar savvy than we may give her credit for though.:)

Yes. VH1 is famous...or perhaps infamous for that. ;)

Okay - there are so many images flashing in this; I see something new everytime. I just saw the shot in the beginning of Stevie from the "Everyday" video shoot where she holding the crystal ball. I also noticed they had the famous (infamous) 40 yard long shot of Stevie in the "big days" for the Sometimes its a Bitch video  Also, is that LB's wife in the room on the rented mansion in some of the shots?

Also, when SN is talking about her wardrobe and they flash for the final time to her spinning in the Practical Magic video, I cannot tell what outfit they show next. It looks like a reverse image with sort of a white polka dot top. Does anyone recognize this?

VH1 is totally infamous for their "editing skills." To the point of ridiculousness at times. See, I don't think Stevie's talking about *her* finances...I think she's talking about other members' or the record company's....something like that. I don't think she's speaking about herself.

And Strand---I saw that small shot too in the pink shawl, I mistakenly thought it was Lindsey, not Christopher. Thanks for the bit that it's Christopher, good on ya! I'll have to watch it again (oh well!!! ;)) so I catch it.

My favorite part is *still* "I wear black because as we all know, black makes you look skinny. Da da!"

(seriously lol right now)

I also like "What is that?"--MF "A spirit catcher."--SN
"A spirit catcher?!??!!"--LB hahahahahahaa. I think it was on Tracy's board that I said that Stevie looked like she was in a parade. :)

Of course, the LB quote I put in my sig. is just *wonderful*.

I loooved the spirit catcher bit. It was the best part. As for her embracing someone in the pink shawl, I thought it was Mick.

:wavey: VH1 did a darn good job for once as you all have
mentioned! Mick in undies was too much but John
asking "Can we play now?" was dear! We went nuts
as Lindsey says he's going to cry and then does so!!!

This opportunity must mean a great deal to Lindsey
and that is so great he is making a documentary with
Neal Preston taking photos at the concerts! His wife
was in several shots but I missed his son Will!!! Stevie
is hysterical in her glasses and she best be careful with
her walker when she's 80 as Lindsey may fight back with
his as they "try to win" at the posh Actors Nursing Home
in Beverly Hills!Lindsey's many hahahaha's tickle me!;)Sky

I thought it was Mick when I first saw it, but then I thought that it was a little weird for her to be hugging him like that...at that moment.

Aw, that's sweet that it's her brother though.

Did anyone weigh in on the guy who has his arm around her with the dark brown hair right before that?

I agree, Silver Girl is the weakest track on the album. They either needed to step it up a notch tempo-wise, or bring in Sheryl Crow (who it was supposedly written about) to do a a nice vocal harmony to spice it up a bit.

I noticed that towards the end when Stevie comes off stage and is emotional, she goes to her brother for a hug...he is there waiting. She still needs her family so much. Chris is there for lots of reasons other than merchandising, although I understand he is not as accessible to backstage and all as he is with the other tours.

That song just does not do it for me at all. I think that Stevie was thinking about Sheryl more than the song, cause it is so bubble gum and below her quality, imo. I really do not like it at all...it is a fast forward, skip for me. I reburned the cd and removed it.

Did everyone see the part of them in the House with Sheryl Crow putting the headphones on and there are a bunch of others there too. It must of have been for her vocals on "Silver Girl"

Where was that bit? I'll have to look again

I have only watched this online (have a video on it's way...thanks to a friend) but I really enjoyed it.

I love the bit of Stevie with the singing bass.... something tells me she has a wicked sence of humour... lol. I bet she would get a kick out of the singing hamsters we have over here... hehehe.

Lindsey tearful and Stevie looking away.. would love to know what that was all about! And what was the song Lindsey didn't like I wonder... hmmmm.

And it was so sweet to see Stevie hugging Chris at the end. I'm sure they are very close to each other

I don't have cable either:( but I just went up to my friends house and watched/recorded it their. I thought it was really good- I loved the old footage of the Rumours tour- and CM about her and John's relationship was TOO FUNNY!

But it seems like they had SO MUCH they could have showed and crammed it all into about 20 minutes. And I didn't really like how they showed video of live performances but had the studio version played....like when they were showing "Destiny Rules", I wanted to hear her acually singing but it sounded like the album version to me. okay, negativity over :D

Overall all, it was GREAT for a 30-minute show.

Yeehaw. I got to see it last night. What fun ! My favorite part was the old clip of Stevie down on the ground, wildly flailing the batwing sleeves all over. Is that from the Japan documentary that people say is available on ebay ? Anyone know ?
If so, it is a must have. She is in classic form in that sequence.

Yeah, I got the impression that she might be like that when she was high. Heh. Funny. :)

The "Japan tapes" I think are already out there - if that is what they showed and exerpt of on the All Access show. I have a vhs tape of that exact clip where Stevie is dancing all over the place - and yes, she is high as a kite! There is so much more to that clip, believe me!! You can overhear her at one part saying, "But I only had one hit" . . . .

Where does she say that? Is that towards the end...after she's pushing that guy in the trunk...when she's talking to that older dude w/ the glasses?

I love, love, love this video! It's nice to see her act so warmly to the road crew. ;) How many guys does she hug and say her little 'goodbye' to? About 4? 5? I love it!

I agree - this part is too funny!!

She says this while she is talking to the older guy with glasses - she kinda whispers to him. I think this is the same conversation where she says how much fun it is to be on the road with the crew, instead of the band.

Another favorite part that I found interesting is where Stevie, LB and Robin are talking and then LB walks away from them and toward the camera and totally rolls his eyes at what Stevie had just said!

I think she says to the guy in the glasses something like "I cnnot make you understand what I am saying." She looks like she is having so much fun!!! I wonder if she still does things like that and if not, when it "ended?" I cannot imagine it was all due to the substance issue. According to CM, Stevie has a great sense of humor that sort of returned around the time of The Dance. maybe it was the Klonopin. Who knows? I just loved seeing her that funny with a roadie!!!!

I didn't catch this, I'll have to go back and watch it a 3rd time! I know, I'm obsessed. Anyway, highlights of this episode for me included the part where someone is taking something off of Mick's head and he's going on and on about saving the hair that he has left, this was priceless. Also, Stevie on the couch ranting "he's gonna hate it because I wrote it" I don't think I've ever seen her so animated before, well, except for older footage of the band. I also liked the part where Lindsey is saying something about always "being the bad guy" in the band and then he laughs a fake laugh- "Ha!" that was great. I was laughing my ass off at the part where Stevie is shoving that guy in the trunk and then afterwards talking to a roadie all f'ed up, what a totally candid moment.

I HAVE GOT to have these basement tapes of the Japan Rumours Tour! I can only imagine the debauchery that went on in those days and for it to be caught on film is just too much. Did someone say parts of it are available on Ebay?

Was that Kristen standing by Mick in that shot of Mick shooting at the dart board? I watched like 6 times now, I love it.

One things for sure, Lindsey and Stevie will never, ever be without some kind of spark between them. Whether it be passion or anger, there will always be something going on there. No doubt about it. I'm sure he loves Kristen and the kids (as he should), but Stevie and him connect on a whole different level. Very interesting to watch.

God I love this band.

I think that fake laugh was because Lindsey realized he was getting agitated on camera and so goes 'Wait, I'm being filmed, let me act like it doesn't really bother me' - "haha" <- fake laugh lol

Stop it going out of control like it has in the past, maintain the sanity and reality. I think he implied this anyway inthe video where he says "It humanises the process" or something Lindseyish :P

I think so, yeah. There were a few glimpses of her in the backstage footage from Columbus and there was a quick shot of her at the recording house with their son in her lap.

I "borrowed" one of Tracy's screenshots from the recording house and blew it up a little to try to figure out who some of these people are, but I can only make out Ray Lindsey, Stevie, and Kristen & Will. I guess I had a little time on my hands. ;)
