GASP!!!
Oh my gosh!

What did this audience do?

Who was there and can elaborate?

I certainly hope no more songs get dropped because of this behavoir!

Please don't drop any more new songs, guys!

Otherwise, I am so pleased to read that it was a staller performance, despite that.

Did the audience boo when they played the new songs?

Whoever was there, please fill us in!

Ha! The reviewer must be a real fan to have that attitude. ;) I'm sure no one booed, but he was probably sitting near people in the audience who do all the things that annoy all of us too - they use the news songs to mill around, sit & talk loud, go to the bathroom, etc.

Great review though. Thanks for posting!

I wasn't there, but my guess would be that a few drunken idiots must have done something. I swear at Stevie and FM concerts, there are more per capita beer runs than any other concerts I go to. I don't know what it is, but unless you're in the first 5 rows or so, you have to get up at Mac concerts at least 5 times to let people go buy beer.

I went to the show last night and my friend and went home not disappointed. Fleetwood Mac was awesome. It was the first time that either of us had seen them live, we were 6th tow on the floor, Lindsey’s side. Through out the evening we were noticed by Stevie and Lindsey and Mick during his World Turning solo. Lindsey would laugh because every time he would look our way my friend and I would freak out.
I don’t remember the whole set list, they started with The Chain and ended with Goodbye Baby. I don’t recall the audience booing any of the songs; they did sit down a few times but that was it. Lindsey had some technical difficulties before Come; it looked or seemed like maybe the cord to amps may have shorted and shocked him or something. Lindsey broke strings on his guitar during come, I’m so Afraid and maybe GYOW, I couldn’t tell.
Stevie was wonderful. From the other reviews of the concerts, this was the one where she let it all out; she danced and twirled her way around the stage all night. It didn’t seem like her hip was bothering her last night. She was right on vocally and so was Lindsey. It was nice to hear her sing on World Turning and Don’t Stop. I always wondered why people like Stand Back when it was performed as part of the Fleetwood Mac set, and now I know why. I have heard Stand Back about 4 or 5 times as Stevie's solo song at her concerts but last night it’s was the best I had ever heard it performed.
When they came together on stage to perform Landslide and Say Goodbye, it was perfect and emotional. At the end of Say Goodbye, it looked like there were tears in their eyes. At the end of the concert Stevie dedicated Goodbye Baby to the audience.
Mick was so great back there behind the drums. He always looks like he is having fun back there. When he came out for the World Turning solo, he had on the vest that I have heard so much about. He cracked me up with that thing. He was so funny, and great. He and Lindsey looked like they were having fun during that solo.
Silver Springs was one of the highlights for me. I have waited so long to hear that song live and it was so worth the wait. Come was also a highlight for me; I wasn’t too fond of that song until I heard it live. Stand Back, GYOW, The Chain, GDW, and all the other songs were great.
As far as I could tell they didn’t add any song in place of Destiny Rules. Nor did it seem they dropped any more songs.
I think I have said enough about my wonderful Fleetwood Mac filled night.

I will post some of my pictures tomorrow after I get them scanned, some of them came out great.

i was at the show and i totally agree that Stevie was in rare form..she totally cut loose and danced all over. Durring stand back she did atleast 6 full twirls consecutively. Im not sure why he called the audience rude because everyone really liked the new songs because the crowd still gave them a huuuuuge reply after each one. My guess is the reviewer was sitting next to people who didnt like the new songs...and took some shots at them while he had a chance.

I read that a few songs into the show, Stevie ditched the boots and changed into the Boks! (hence the dancing and twirling..) Did you guys that went notice this?? I like the boots, but I know what they feel like, plus gotta be dangerous for the hip injury..

sounds like you got a great show!! thanks for posting your comments!

Here's my review: =)

I wasn't supposed to go to this show, I live in Toronto and they aren't coming here, and travelling AND paying for tickets was something I simply couldn't affored, even though FM are my favorite band. But then on Wednesday I got a call from a fellow I know in Buffalo saying he was given a pair of tickets, and my boyfriend and I could have them if I wanted. I thought about it for about two seconds. The next evening I arrived at the Buffalo bus termianal, but it wasn't until we actually got to teh venue that it actually sunk in that I was about to see my favorite singer and my favorite band of all time. We took our seats, which were decent, and a few minutes later it went dark and Mick, John, Lindsey, and then Stevie walked on stage (as my heart pounded).

The Setlist (I hope I didn't mess up, did I?
Fleetwood Mac,, HSBC Arena, Buffalo, NY, May 15th
The Chain
Dreams
Peacekeeper
Eyes Of The World
Say You Will
Never Going Back Again
Rhiannon
Come
Gypsy
Big Love
Landslide
Say Goodbye
What's The World Coming To
Beautiful Child
Second Hand News
Gold Dust Woman
I'm So Afraid
Silver Springs
Tusk
Stand Back
Go Your Own Way
---
World Turning -> long drum solo -> World Turning
Don't Stop
---
Goodbye Baby

Yep Stevie ditched the traditional boots and the top from the Tonight Show that everyone hates after a few songs. Before Peacekeeper Lindsey said something to the effect of "this song is about the growing desensitization by the people that run this country", I was surprised that Stevie sang the "bow bow bow" parts of Second Hand News, and I didn't realize that when the band played Tusk and Don't Stop that all the horns would be programmed into the keyboards, it was pretty cool though, I assumed they did those songs like they did back on the Tusk tour, with maybe an accordion instead. Stevie left the stage for Come and for the guitar solo of I'm So Afraid, and everyone left during Mick's BORING World Turning drum solo (they could have been playing Destiny Rules then!), but overall danced her ass off, especially during Stand Back, she twirled like crazy - she really rocked out on that one, it was probably the highlight of the night for me. At the end of the main set as the band was leaving the stage Stevie was the last one to leave, and there was this moment where she was there alone, waving to all of us, it was really sweet. Some people have said that Stevie seems less animated on this tour, but Buffalo was certainly the exception, she seemed really into it and looked absolutely amazing, she dedicated Goodbye Baby to Buffalo. A lot of folks left during the encores so when they did that song it felt like it was the "real" fans, and much of the audience was singing along.

Overall it was an amazing show, one of the best concerts I've ever been to. I got a big teary-eyed during Beautiful Child and Landslide. Sometimes when I watch the Tusk tour video and it shows that huge arena going nuts over a rock & roll band I sorta feel like that's an era I missed out on, but last night was totally a big rock concert in the best sense of that term.

Cheers!
Evan

I agree with the author of the article. Some people in attendance can act like real trash. It's one thing to sing and dance - that's what we do to get the excitement out of our systems, but in D.C. for example, in the second row sitting next to me, people were eating chinese chicken and brocolli - it STANK to holy hell. On the other side, people were sharing a pizza pie. They were all talking and not even listening. There is no doubt Stevie saw them. Most people were drinking beer, which usually gets spilled on me or my friends.

It's screwed up.

As for not wanting to hear new songs - he's right. How can one expect not to hear new songs? Like he said, if one wants to hear a greatest hits cd and have a greasy dinner, stay home and let the rest of us enjoy our band!

My two cents!

Thanks to ALL of you! I appreciated the posting of the link to the editorial review, but especially appreciated the FAN'S EYE VIEW!

You guys clarified and gave closer observations to a few things that weren't covered, and that is great to read! :)

It's great hearing how Lindsey and Stevie are both interacting with the fans and how touched you all are by both of them.

I love that the last song was dedicated to the audience. That totally makes sense.

gypsyenchant, I'll definitely love to see your pictures if you can get 'em up! Thank you!

That really pissed me off how people act at these concerts. Why the heck to they think the band is on tour, anyway? Geez . . . .

What is really frustrating is how people can be in the first ten rows and not even appear to be "real fans". In other words, they sit and talk and don't even really pay attention, let alone dance and stand up. It is so not fair that all the true fans may get stuck with crappy fan club seats and these people act like they would rather be anywhere else but at the concert!! :distress:

Hi there everyone, I'm new, as you can tell. (Hi, Sally!) I've been lurking for a bit, though.

I was at the Buffalo show and I was completely blown away. I saw the Mac of '94 open for Crosby, Stills, & Nash---and it was nothing like this. I'm considering this to be my first real Fleetwood Mac concert, even with the absence of Christine. I am still flying high from the concert.

What I saw of the crowd being rude (now granted, I was off in section 103, row7, but I still had great seats) was that during the new material, that's when it was time to get more beer---or get more food---or go to the bathroom---or go smoke and come back all smelly. I mean really, people---the album's been out for a month! It seriously drove me nuts.

My friends and I were singing along (not loudly, just enough to sing along), and clapping, and the people in front of us (now, mind you we were sitting---something I'm not used to since I'm usually in the front rows of Barenaked Ladies concerts) turned around and asked us to quiet down because they were "trying to listen to the music." Call me crazy---but aren't there huge speakers all around the arena? Isn't everybody making noise? For the price of the tickets---I recommend staying home next time and listening to your CDs, buddy. :D

I was highly touched by "Landslide," mainly because this being my first Mac concert with Stevie, and being brought up on the band just...I don't know...I just couldn't believe I was seeing her live and in person singing such a great song. Same with "Silver Springs" and "Beautiful Child."

Next time---I'm on the floor! :D

Welcome to the Ledge...Sally!! :D

So glad to hear the concert was GREAT for ya!! My show in Dallas is on July 3rd...I CANNOT WAIT!!!!!!

For the price of the tickets---I recommend staying home next time and listening to your CDs, buddy.

AMEN!!

I'm not worried about anyone else, I'm gonna scream and sing along, I mean, it's a frickin ARENA for cornsakes, it's not like we're in an intimate club or something!!

Now see, everyone basically forced Stevie to wear those platform boots for this tour because everyone just had to complain about the reeboks. As a result, she was probably sore and miserable during the first few shows, and that is probably why people say she wasn't as animated. I'm glad she kicked them off for the Buffalo show so that she could dance around for you guys. Maybe it's not her hip at all...maybe it was the boots that made her sluggish. Perhaps this was the endurance issue and why Destiny Rules and Running through the Garden were cut from the set (although I think these were cut more because Stevie's on stage a lot more and SINGING a lot more on LB's songs than on The Dance. She's basically on every song except Come, and singing a good deal of the other songs, as opposed to singing bits and pieces on others' songs, if singing at all). Hopefully now everyone will just leave her alone about the boots and let her wear what's she's comfortable in so she can kick more ass.

Forgot to mention, thanks for the great reviews!

Well, I had 8th row center for the Cleveland show. Some of the people there were quite rude. There were a pack of about 8 woman and they occupied every empty seat until the actual owners showed up. They looked as if they were playing musical chairs.
There was a older couple next to me. They got up for beer a few times. I was very careful not to keep my camara next to her because the beer looked as if it might go flying any moment. She was smoking and drinking and "dancing" next to me.
There was yet another couple in front of me that like to visit the concession stand more then see the show. Guess who decided to "sit" in their seats until they came back? Yep 2 of the pack ladies.
I had 2 classy young men sitting in back of me. Yeah right.
They were yelling throughout the show. At one point when Stevie had the low-cut dress on they made some kind of comment.
When Stevie sang Beautiful Child a lot of people sat down. I looked at my chair and I don't know what was on it thanks to the 2 boys in back of me. I wiped it off and said out loud " some people are such pigs".
At one point people were tossing around a beach ball and seemed more into that then the show. I was tempted to let the air out but I was good girl.

Well thats enough of my complaints for now.

I must of had good luck because nobody around me was rude the slightest. One time the people to my left went out for a drink..but that was it. The lady next to me was smoking a cig which wasn't too big of a deal, i dont come to a concert and not expect a cig to be lit up. Nobody near me even left durring the new songs and thats what suprised me , everyone near me was so into it...those back rows of the front floor sections were cool. I'm sorry to hear that other people at the buffalo show had to deal with rude people. Buffalo is usually known for really friendly people too.

I figure that I'd try posting this in the thread first rather than starting a brand new one...(I'll wait a few days)

Did anybody tape the B'lo show? I'd kill (well, at least B&P--2 for 1) for a copy! ;)
