Question Bombay Sapphires......

...is the name of a type of liquor. Stevie has always said she liked nice names.....is this where she got the idea from?

Lol, no, as a matter of fact she seemed exceedingly annoyed in one interview because everyone thought so. She said that that's why she called it "Bombay Sapphire" without the 's' at the end, so that people wouldn't think it's about the liquor.

the other way round....I drink Bombay Sapphire gin...Bombay Sapphires are smoky blue sapphire gemstones as opposed to the brilliant blue of the Ceylon sapphire or the dark blue sapphires of Australia.

Louise,

What can I say except, yep! You know your precious stones, you know your spirits. Bombay Saphire with lemon zest. Sigh. It is summer. Still working on the sapphires though. There is an incredible Indian gold and gem market in Los Angles where one can look and long. Sigh.

This is the last song she wrote for TISL while the lp was half way through production Stevie took a break and went to Hawaii and was inspired by the white beaches and deep blue of the sea and wrote the song about getting out of a bad relationship(with whom she did not say)That is the part about ' I can see past you to the white sand '.I love the way this song turned out it.It really demonstrates that Stevie knows how to produce if she wants to.

I remember when i was reading reviews of TISL before it came out....and everyone thought that Bombay Sapphires was the weakest track..so i wasn't sure what to expect..and the fact is,that is one of my fav tracks..Stevie did a great job with it..it is not overdone..like it might have been if someone else would have produced it..i also really liked hearing it live...i was disappoointed when she dropped it from the setlist..

*smacks self in head* Hehe, yeah, it is the other way around. She ADDED the 's' to make it not like the liquor.

By the way, I wanted to say that the "lol" that I started the other post with was not a laugh AT you greatdarkwing...it was just that I thought it was hilarious when I heard (or read, whichever) the interview and Stevie seemed so upset that everyone thought it was about the liquor. That's what I was laughing about, not your question. Sorry if it seemed that way

Bombay Sapphires is one of my favorite tracks on TISL... Stevie did a great job with it. I can almost imagine the images as she sings the song. I also loved the live version of the song!

It's one of my favorite tracks on TISL.

And, considering "Bombay Sapphire" is GIN, it's definitely close to the top of the line gin made (hard to top Tanqueray, however).

Anyone else think that the intro to Bombay Sapphires sounds similar to an intro of...oh, can't think of the title...anyway, a song by Sting..."Be Still My Beating Heart", maybe?? It has that same "Sting-ish" sound to it...to my ears, that is.

Perhaps this could help Ledgies....

From the Bombay Sapphire website....

Thank you for your interest in BOMBAY SAPPHIRE. We have prepared a list of Frequently Asked Questions about BOMBAY SAPPHIRE and our role in the design community.

We hope this helps you.

Is it blue?
No, although commonly believed to be blue like the bottle, BOMBAY SAPPHIRE gin is a clear spirit. The BOMBAY SAPPHIRE bottle is what is blue.

Why is BOMBAY SAPPHIRE so popular?
BOMBAY SAPPHIRE has gained enormous popularity as a super premium spirit with ten botanicals and a unique vapor-infusion procession to make a subtly complex, highly nuanced top-shelf gin. BOMBAY SAPPHIRE is marked by its distinct blue bottle and stunning advertising campaign, pairing BOMBAY SAPPHIRE martini glasses created by world renowned designers with the unique blue bottle. As a natural extension of the unique bottle, BOMBAY SAPPHIRE has dedicated itself to supporting the global design community for over ten years.

How do you make a martini?
To make the ultimate martini, use the ultimate gin. Take two ounces of BOMBAY SAPPHIRE, add a splash of MARTINI & ROSSI Extra Dry Vermouth - according to your personal taste - (the less vermouth used, the "drier" the martini), shake or stir in a martini shaker filled with ice, strain into chilled martini glass, add an olive or a twist of lemon, and enjoy!

Where can I buy the BOMBAY SAPPHIRE martini glasses featured in the advertisements?
The BOMBAY SAPPHIRE martini glasses are unique art objects, and therefore only one of each martini glass exists. All fifteen martini glasses are available for viewing at the Bombay Spirits Company Museum in Miami, Florida. However during the holidays, the BOMBAY SAPPHIRE U.S. market offers consumers a beautifully designed complimentary martini glass which accompanies every 750ml bottle of BOMBAY SAPPHIRE as their way of saying "thank you" to our loyal consumers.

Can I get posters of the BOMBAY SAPPHIRE advertisements?
Currently posters of the BOMBAY SAPPHIRE advertisements do not exist, but we have had a number of requests for posters, and we are working to meet your needs. Please continue to check the website for further information on this development.

Where can I buy BOMBAY SAPPHIRE online?
We do not sell BOMBAY SAPPHIRE directly from this website. However, you can purchase BOMBAY SAPPHIRE on wine and spirits e-commerce sites or at your local retail outlet.

How can I contact BOMBAY SAPPHIRE?
Click here to contact us with comments and questions about our product, our site or our designers. We'd love to hear from you and will respond back as soon as we can.

Hey Michelle I agree about the live version of Bombay Sapphires
I was fortunate enough to have seen Stevie perform it live and in my opinion she should never have dropped it from the set.

Hey Mim.....

I looooooove Sapphires..... Ceylon being my favourite.... I have a beautiful square or princess cut Ceylon Sapphire in my engagement ring........I would love to go to the Indian gold and Gem market in LA........but we have 'Little India' in London a place called Southhall.......and the Jewelry Stores are incredible.

Bombay Sapphire gin....I have a cocktail recipe... I had it made for me by a very nice barman in Leicester Square, London. I gave him the brief that it had to be gin based and had the name Bombay Sapphires

So here goes

Bombay Sapphires Cocktail
----------------------------------

1 1/4 measures Bombay Sapphire Gin
1 part Blue Bols
2 parts Sweet and Sour
2 parts Lemonade
Plenty of crushed ice

Take a tall glass, put in ice pour on the measure of Blue Bols
add the Bombay Sapphire Gin then add the Sweet and Sour and to finish the Lemonade......It is quite a delightful drink.
