Default How do you think the new mac album will sound??

What are your 'sound' expectations for the new album?

Will it be contemporary but with THAT Mac sound to it..

Will it be essentially Buckingham Nicks...

Will it be in the vain of todays bands...like the Stereophonics, Travis, Train, ........we all know that Lindsey is a GREAT producer....BUT will he be moving with the times?

Would interesting to read your views....

Talking Yo yo!

I heard from a friend who works in LA in the music biz that the Mac album really might not happen. He said it's fully finished, as is Lindseys album...but the record company doesn't want to take the risk because it's too much in the vein of TUSK. Not that it sounds like Tusk, just that it's very different from mainstream "normal" Fleetwood Mac stuff. I'm guessing that most of that is due in part to Lindsey who is spearheading the project. BUT...this band has been around long enough to put out whatever the hell they want. It'll make it out sooner or later is my opinion.

Question IMO...

"What are your 'sound' expectations for the new album?"

I'm hoping for a more guitar laden album than any other 'Mac album...There can be more room achieved since the Mac is now in reality a "power-trio"...

"Will it be contemporary but with THAT Mac sound to it.."

I think it will have a contemporary sound to it, But still be very much a 'Mac sound...

"Will it be essentially Buckingham Nicks..."

Basically Yeah, It will be Buckingham/Nicks

"Will it be in the vain of todays bands...like the Stereophonics, Travis, Train, ........we all know that Lindsey is a GREAT producer....BUT will he be moving with the times?"

I'm thinking it won't be in that vain like the above mentioned groups, But more of a traditional AOR album...Brian

My sources at HK and WBR tell me that the Mac are still recording the album so has as yet not reached the 'tweeking' stage yet....but that there should be a release date for late summer early autumn.

Default YEP!

Thats the same information I got. The album will be out this year. As far as the same "vein" as TUSK, Warner could only hope.

You know, I hope it does have a different, more alternative sound. Fleetwood Mac are not a band who make the same records over and over again like some bands do, and for them to make another Rumours would just be... well, dumb. Tusk is my favorite Fleetwood Mac album anyway! I would love more guitars, and more of a Buckingham Nicks sound too (because I love that album too, and hope they might finally jump on the re-release bandwagon when the FM album comes out). So, uh, my ideal album is a bit of a mix-up.

Louise, so they are reckoning late summer or early autumn, huh? Which is this year! OMG! Reality check... new Fleetwood Mac album THIS YEAR!!! I still can't believe it...

Laura.

I kind of expect the new mac album to have a harder sound. Mainly due to the fact that chris won't be in the picture. So radical that Warner wouldn't release it? I doubt that. Since they only seem interesting in keeping newer artists, it wouldn't make sense for them to drop a FM record that is slightly different. They want to revitalize their image... so why would they want a same old same old FM album? I really do hope they kind of take a left turn with this album... I think they need to do something different to prove they aren't stuck in a rut, and can still be a contemporary force . I'm confident that this new album will do just that... be contemporary, and fresh. -Louie

Well, I don't want them to be stuck in a rut, either - but I also hope they don't get so eager to prove they're "contemporary" that they lose themselves. There's such a thing as overdoing it - and honestly I think a couple song on Tusk reflect that "Do it because it's different and who cares if it doesn't sound good" attitude. Just a couple....but it's there. Frankly, I think it's Lindsey who might succumb to this temptation the most, and I hope he restrains himself. Guitar stuff like Out of the Cradle and the Dance are what I'm hoping he'll add to the mix!

I hope they don't obsess over being different or getting a certain sound. If it sounds good and you like it, do it! lol

Heart Well.....

I hope that we will be hearing a revitalised contemporary sound which will attract new fans BUT not so far out of that distinct Mac sound that it becomes not recognizably Mac.....

Along the lines of how BLY described it...

I expect the new Fleetwood Mac album to sound like a cross between "Gift Of Screws", "Out Of The Cradle", & "Trouble In Shangri-La"...except better than each of those individually

(and just to freak out The Tower)

Absolutley no offense intended.....but....you gonna believe your friend in LA or TIME MAGAZINE!!! Do you think the label would let Time Magazine print something if the album wasn't being released? I don't think Tom Cunneff is just guessing on this one.
