That depends on a few factors.
1) if the album is delayed, the tour COULD start BEFORE the release of the album. Case in point, back when the Eagles released "Hotel California", the tour had already been in progress for about 3 months. (they played almost ALL of "Hotel California" during their set, nobody had heard the songs yet. Didn't go over all that well, until the album finally came out...then people started having "song recognition") 2) how the album does saleswise after its release (IF the tour hasn't already been booked beforehand) Some artists' albums don't do as well "out of the gate" as anticipated, making it difficult to book the size venues they'd planned to play (or sell tickets to the shows that had already been booked) In the case of the new Mac album, I'd say the tour will start (or tickets will go on sale) somewhere around a month to six weeks after the release of the album. |

The FM Tour will have to coincide with the CD release within a short period of time to provide for $$$ making and promtion by the Tour Management and Record Company....
Factors to consider.... 1)A replacement for Christine McVie HAS TO BE FOUND ! This person must be a name that will compensate for her absence and draw in a crowd ! Billy Joel or Elton John would be good ideas to handle the keyboard chores. Or.... Have Peter Green join the group for a few reunion tunes. Also God willing and Legal Woes resolved, Bob Welch can join FM and croon with Stevie on such classics like Ebony Eyes or Hypnotised... Billy Burnette and Rick Vito can come along also to help out... 2)Competition from other groups.... The Who is touring this Summer and a lot of Classic Rock Fans will be spending their $$$$ to see them. So the FM tour people will have to schedule the tour to avoid conflicting with Roger, Pete, & the Boys to make $$$ Lets not forget the other groups that will be touring that Summer as well.... 3) The Mac must also hope (AND PRAY) that their new CD does'nt go over like a tuna eclair like Time did. It was a good CD but not what the fans wanted. If the Mac can get one or two hit songs out of the CD along with their proven chestnuts, the Tour will make $$$$$ 4)Problems.... Sickness, Fatigue, and other factors must be considered with this tour. Lets not forget the problems that bedeviled Stevie during TISL (9-11 not withstanding !). Any postponement or illness will play Hades with the Logisitics.... 5)A Final Lesson..... The objective of the FM Tour is to... MAKE MONEY MAKE MONEY MAKE MONEY Thank You !!! ![]() |

I don't want anyone replacing Christine.
They can get someone to play keyboards and put them at the back of the stage with the other additional musicians. But there will be no 'replacement'.Cameo appearances by other band members or musicians (apart from Christine) would not be a good idea. This is Fleetwood Mac as it is now touring in support of a new album that they made... and besides, the press get funny about cameo appearances and label them as publicity acts. That's not going to sell tickets. Laura. |

I respect your opinion, but remember, it all depends on Mick, The Group, & The Various Promoters !!!!
It remains to be seen.... Oh BTW, If you're a Who Fan like me You may want to check out the 1976 Ken Russell Flick, Lisztomania with Roger Daltrey as the Hungarian Compser Franz Liszt. It portrays Liszt as a Rock & Roll Madman and also features Rinog Starr as the Pope, Paul Nicholas )as a sleazy Richard Wagner and other noted personalities such as Rick Wakeman (remember him ?) as a pathetic Super Hero....It's a Mad Hatters view of Classical Music and worth a view ! Only a true genius like Russell (Who I've met !) could pull it off. It's not as great as Tommy or The Devils (Another Classic with Oliver Reed) but unique !!! ![]() Last edited by Arizona Ranger : 04-17-2002 at 05:52 PM. |

I would see the album coming out in October. Seems like alot of tours start in the month of October...
I remember reading that the tour would be possibly 18 months long, A MAJOR world-tour covering alot of cities & countries where they havent played before or in awhile...Brian

I think they know better than to replace Christine..especially w/ a big name..because then they would have a whole new band again...and it would not reflect the new album they will be promoting. They will probably have a session musiciaan off on the sides somewhere as they have been doing (w/ other instruments, too...to richen up their live sound) and probably do the girl-background singers again to fill in on her harmonies. I don't think they have too much to worry about..even if the album doesn't do great their tours always do...and this version of the band is not as far of a stretch as the Time version was. Good health and good press providing they could easily have one of the biggest grossing tours of the year....I think.
