Default I was looking for a grateful dead song and found a ''lost'' stevie song

This happened by pure accident but i went looking to download
the song china doll by the grateful dead but in my searching i found that stevie has done a song with that name. i've never heard stevie's version until the other night but i have to say it's
pretty close to a perfect song she's ever done. i'd love to know
when it was recorded it sounds like a demo.

Oh, I love that song! I just wonder why she never put it on any album...maybe she didn't feel it fit. But it's my fav Stevie demo! It's so beautiful! But I have no idea as to when it was recorded...I'm guessing late 70's/early 80's but I wouldn't know. Anyone?

yeah, "china doll" is definitely my favorite demo, along with "the tower." the two are very similar in sound; they may even have been recorded at the same session. judging from stevie's voice (higher range still very strong), i'd guess they come from the "rumours" era, 1976-1978.

Someone recently sent this demo to me. It is a very beautiful one and I really like it a lot.
