The keyboards get pushed reveal a synth string pad from the late 80's or early 90s. Could be from the Fairlight II, but sounds a little more like a Roland or Yamaha patch from that time.

The bass part which shares some lineage with Hall & Oates' "I Can't Go for That" has been mixed further up and gives the song a more prominent groove.

The layers of percussion tracks get a little more simplified giving more prominence to the programmed snare and then the weaves of live and machine percussion come in an out with less obvious markings.

Some of the plucked sounds from the collection of stringed instrument tracks become less dominant, and the music box twinkling guitar sound gets to stand alone in distinct parts.

I adore the original version of Soul Drifter, but having recently discovered this alternate version, I am getting to hear the song in a new way that is pleasing me greatly.

The alternate mix of "Soul Drifter" is easily the best addition of the box set. Unlike the original, which has a far peppier percussion track, this one is more conventional. The bed of synth strings is also pleasing.

I wish that the soft mix of "Countdown" was also included in addition to some demos or unreleased material, but I'm glad that we got a few more songs that are now commercially available.

Would like to know how he decided to include that song.

I think it was chosen because having Stevie's name in his advertisement for this set will help sell more.

And just as a fact, the Twister film soundtrack is not easy to find in stores. I'm guessing one could find it in a collector music store.

Soldier's Angel would have been cool but that's not a duet even though Lindsey's vocals are very much present. In Your Dreams is actually hard to find in stores now too.

All Stevie really needed to do was lose weight, stop smoking, get a makeover, and do a post-Klonopin “Comeback” concert on MTV with celebrity guests (Sheryl, Dave, Eddie, Tom, Don, Courtney, Billy Corgan, etc). I doubt it would have been as durable as the Fleetwood Mac reunion, but she was the only one who could’ve gotten back to relevancy without The Dance.

At The Forum in 1990, Stevie cried next to Lindsey on stage and said she hoped he would work with her again. She called Lindsey in 1996 for help with the song Twisted because she needed help with the song's production, same as the need for help with Soldier's Angel in 2010.

I think Christine could have had a return to relevancy without The Dance.

She would have had to get on a plane, first. Anyway, the vast bulk of Christine’s success was as part of Fleetwood Mac.

It’s a reality of the entertainment industry. She looked horrible at the inauguration and not great in 1994.

I have no words for that last sentence especially 2014. Stevie is always beautiful. That year was the launch of Stevie’s entrance to the young social media generation. Very “get off my lawn” sounding sentence.

“Twisted” was their way of letting the world (i.e. MTV, Clear Channel, promoters) know Fleetwood Mac -the one people remember- were open for business.

According to Mike Bise in his Mirror Mirror fanzine, this is exactly what Stevie was planning to do — a full-length documentary and concert for Lifetime (or one of the other cable networks in the day) to stage a comeback. The business offices were moving forward with plans, but of course they were canceled as the full-on Mac reunion started revving up.

I was actually looking forward to the plans for the documentary and concert. She was recording with some producer known for his hip-hop credentials, probably hoping to increase her appeal.

In 1995, she had the fateful conversation with Don Was on the airplane. Apparently, he was the guy who convinced her to get going again — start writing, start playing, join the human race again, like Dolly Levi. Her three appearances in 1996 (Ft. Lauderdale, Boston, Columbia) were the result of that conversation.
