John's photo on Bare Trees is nice, but sort of the equivalent of hotel-room art.
David, would you mind telling me the story behind the Tusk cover? You can PM me if you want, I'm dying to know! (He's everywhere in the LP insert too!)

EDIT: I just read the posts that were before I posted. Ooops. I still don't understand though, and I'd love an explanation!

I don't have a story on the cover. I think it's Richard Dashut's dog biting John McVie's sneaker-clad foot. My dog Tammy used to bite my feet in play. She loved sinking her collie teeth into my Van's. Sometimes, when her teeth went too deep, I flinched visibly. What great times we had.

Think of the dog as a metaphor for the band, sinking its fangs into the complaisant & boring music industry in 1978.

The rest of the art -- all those calligraphy-like scribblings -- was journal pages by the photographer Peter Beard. From the looks of all the scribblings, Beard must have spent a good deal of time not only in Africa but in Los Angeles with the band during the recording process. Bummer he hasn't ever talked about that year in detail.

That's what I've heard, too.

*collective gasp* I'm shocked. But I'm also surprised that I haven't seen it talked about more on here.

My dog likes to lick the carpet. He gets his tongue stuck sometimes. And my best friend's Brittany Spaniel puppy has bit me on the INSIDE of my nose several times. Buhlud.

And thanks for the info on the art. I was very confused! (And I still kind of am.) But when I'm bored I sometimes dig out the Tusk LP and look at the art until my eyes hurt. I still don't think I've memorized every detail!

Oh and whose baby is that pulling on CM's hair!? I lol'd when I saw that!

I agree. Though I like the LIVE cover too. And I always loved the Behind the Mask picture. It's the best cover where no member appears

And THE DANCE was a cool cover for a reunion album

this thread should have been a poll!!!!

My favourites:

Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac
Rumours
Mr Wonderful (mainly just because it's sooooo disturbing!!)
25 Years: The Chain (Love John's Penguin tattoo!! Super cool!!)
Then Play On
Bare Trees
Mystery To Me
Fleetwood Mac
The Dance
Live
Tango In The Night (I like the painting on the front and the group photo on the back really shows off how tall Mick really is in comparison to the rest of the band)

Very obviously not her, but it's a symbolic representation.

Rumours is iconic!
Even with all these awesome outtakes, they really did choose the best one.

I know the burning question is why Stevie is on our left in all the outtakes and on the final cover she's on our right... anybody know why? They just flipped it maybe?
(Sorry for the pic overload haha)

I love the Rumours cover outtakes! All of them are just so beautiful and quirky. But I agree, the one that made the cover is the best!

Of those Rumours outtakes I really really love the 2nd one of Stevie with her top hat on....thats the best one....IMO anyway......& I do think its better than the cover pic. Even though everyone knows it.....
Oh yeah, sorry I was (I guess) wrong about the dog on Tusk.....I'd always thought or heard it was Lindseys dog not Richard Dashurt's....if he ever comes back on here we could ask him.....I wonder whatever happend to his 'book' he was writing??? Anyone know??
