Default What is it about Stevie Nicks?

I freeking love the **** out of her. She is so beautiful and has the most unique voice. Her lyrics are so poetic and her style is amazing. Like her, I have always been one to wear long flowing dresses and spin around on the dance floor. I just happen to wear opera length gloves and little feather hats with veils to make a look all my own. I just seem to get in my Stevie Nicks moods every now and then, and for the rest of the night I am feeling pretty deep. She looks so beautiful and her outfits are capital. My friend showed me the best live performance of her on you tube and we were both so moved as she sang and tears began flow, she was SO into it. We guessed she was also pretty lit which makes it even more awesome.

The one that absolutely shocked me the most? Stevie ****ing Nicks. I knew she was big (I’ve seen her house), but I had no idea how big. The anal cocaine delivery advocate has had, with her Fleetwood Mac songs, her solo career, and collaborations, an astonishing twenty-seven Top 40 hits and four #1 singles. That’s more than Tina Turner, Gladys Knight, Linda Ronstadt, Barbra Streisand, Karen Carpenter, or Carole King and Joni Mitchell combined! Good grief.

From a Daily Telegrap article on Peter Ikin's life and will.

http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegrap...001021,00.html

Respected by the stars whose huge egos he managed to handle, including Fleetwood Mac, his friends knew him as warm-hearted and generous. He split his year between London and his Elizabeth Bay penthouse in Sydney.

Excerpt from an article about Cris Morris and his family:

http://www.pressofatlanticcity.com/l...9f11565a0.html

As all this was going on, Ruby Morris' son, Cris, pursued a different career path. He worked as a music engineer, serving as recording assistant for Fleetwood Mac's iconic "Rumours" album. His name is on the record label. He appears in three pictures in the album's photo collage.

He's the guy without a beard.

Seven years later, he would be working with a guy now famous for a beard.

Colbie Caillat ‘Fallin’ For You’
New Single Out September 7th On Island Records
Sophomore ‘Breakthrough’ Album Out September 14th

24-year-old, award-winning singer-songwriter Colbie Caillat is one of the most exciting prospects to come to these shores in a long time.

Colbie is set to release ‘Falling For You’, September 7th - the first single from her eagerly anticipated new album ‘Breakthrough’, out September 14th on Island Records.

Her irresistible new single ‘Fallin’ For You’ written by Colbie Caillat and Rick Nowels (Madonna) and produced by Nowels, John Shanks (Celine Dion) and Colbie’s father Ken Caillat (Fleetwood Mac) is 3-minutes of acoustic guitar led pop perfection, wrapped around Colbie’s stunning vocal.

The single is currently the No.1 most added record on the Hot AC chart in the US and is set to achieve similar success in the UK.

The Malibu-based singer-songwriter whose mesmerising vocals and refreshing style captured a global following with her 2007 acclaimed double platinum debut album ‘Coco’ is working with an impressive collection of songwriters on her new record, including John Mayer and acclaimed songwriter and 2009 American Idol judge Kara Dioguardi.

Colbie’s refreshing style has connected with nearly 40 million myspace fans who have played her songs over 75 million times. Her debut single ‘Bubbly’ became a smash-hit and was No.1 on US radio for nearly half a year. It became the 21st Best Selling digital track of all time.

Default From a Fan Review of Seattle Tori Amos show

Tori covers "Landslide" from time to time, and apparently did so in Seattle on the 10th AND mentioned Buckingham Nicks! Yay Tori!

"She also listed the music that he would smuggle to her behind their daddy’s back like The Doors, Jimi, Janis, The Beatles, Buffalo Springfield, Buckingham Natives(?) (a few people seemed to know what that is, but I don’t) and then she launched into Landslide by Fleetwood Mac."

The "he" that's referred to here is her brother, I think.

All the same, baby. All the same.

"You never know what I'll do. I've resequenced my show. I'm a master at sequencing. I'm the one who sequenced for Fleetwood Mac. I sequenced 'Rumours.' Everyone loves my sequences. They're fun.''

In the BBC documentary about the making of Fleetwood Mac’s famous album, Rumours, Stevie Nicks says her one great regret in life was that she never got married and had children. When I got my coffee this morning, one of the Rumours tunes was playing in the background with Nicks singing, and I asked the barista if he knew what Stevie Nicks’s one great regret in life was. When I told him, he said in dismissive way (if I didn’t know my rock stars) that it wasn’t in character for her and went about making my drink. It surprised me. If the barista had been a woman, she would have known immediately what Nicks meant.

“Half-Blood Prince” was supposed to be released last winter. But star Daniel Radcliffe was naked on Broadway, blinding horses in “Equus.” So Warner Bros. decided to hold off until “Equus” was just a distant memory. Luckily, “Equus” didn’t even get a Tony nomination. It just faded from view.

So what about the new “Harry Potter”? It’s long, very long, and ends on a dark, slow, sad note. At last night’s screening, the kids all said they liked it, but there was little applause and no cheering. It’s a very talky movie, frankly.

On the upside: Jim Broadbent as Professor Horace Slughorn is exceptional. He may even get some awards mentions next fall. The production is top notch, of course, with great music, tremendous sets, and visual richness. On the downside: Helena Bonham Carter now plays crazy too well. She also looks like she’s about to star in “The Stevie Nicks Story” in every movie.

As I got older, my father would invite me to listen to records with him on the old stereo in their bedroom. He would pull out Heart albums and express his undying desire for pre-80s Nancy and Ann Wilson. His passion for Fleetwood Mac extended to encompass his worship of Stevie Nicks. The first time I saw that ubiquitous Springsteen's-ass-amidst-patriotic-backdrop album cover was when I was still wearing a Muppet Babies nightgown. That memory is as fresh for me as my fifth birthday party. When we moved to the country and left behind our child-friendly neighborhood in town, my 8-year-old self created my own "radio station," complete with all of the classic hits I'd dubbed from my dad's records onto tape. I mimicked the "SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY" booming voices of the local deejays and used my alarm clock to create wacky radio-esque sound bytes. I entered middle school as an awkward girl who worshipped The Moody Blues and could sing Petty/Nicks's duet "Stop Dragging My Heart Around" word for word.

Default Tori Amos

She plugs into our minds as we are entranced by “Cornflake Girl” and “Crucify”, the standards we grew up on. But it wasn’t until “Landslide”, the cover written and made famous by Stevie Nicks, a cover I have lived in for so very long, and have heard many a performer attempt. Miss Amos not only made it her own, but she created an entirely new way to listen, a new planet to live on. With every song she continues as though she is a first time traveler to the world, giving her best performance at each note. Her dual microphones on both sides forcing her to turn her head as she belts is so pseudo sexual that you cannot help but wonder if it were on purpose, or did some technician find it the best way to vocalize her, either way, enthralling.
