Well at the beginning of my fandom I know nothing about J&C and always wondered what they were, until I got Mick's book in 1992. Keep in mind there were no internet in the 80s.

This thread made me remember long ago I watched a Carpenters documentary and it included part of an interview (from the 70s) where the host asked them "When did you meet?" Karen and Richard looked at each other and instead of laughing, Karen answered "In High School"

Well, it can happen to any mortal, specially on those days where information was not as easy to get as it is now, but in the case of a journalist, it's unforgivable.
