Funny, I love that song the most on the BuckMcVie album.
Christine personally conquered a phobia of flying, and that was part of the reason she wanted to (and was able to) return to Fleetwood Mac and to traveling the world, after a long time of staying in the UK. The lyrics are partly about this new feeling of liberation. And it makes sense to me, the similar sound re: I'm So Afraid, because this song is about having conquered fear. |

I immediately heard a connection between "Carnival Begin" and "Behind the Mask." I'm not sure if it's lyrics or music or just a "feel," but those two great Mac songs share a common sensibility.

I like the song.
The end structure and solo is from the I'm So Afraid playbook -- as is the title track from Tango In The Night. I don't understand Game of Pretend -- the arrangement is so substandard and way below what Buckingham is capable of. Same goes for the "la la la's" at the end of Red Sun. Say what you will about Stevie Nicks, but she knows a little about not overproducing tracks when there is no need to do so. This album might have held together a little better if it had a little more muscle and a little less saccharine pop. |

I love the album and Carnival Begin is one of my favorites. I like your point about more muscle tho. I wanted something that packs a punch like Think About Me.
