Question tour promotion and pricing?

so i've been frustrated with several things, even though i'm so looking fw to this tour and setlist - and i really really want this tour to be enjoyable:

1. venue sizes they picked - way too big, especially for next to no promotion connected to the tour, so far. since venue sizes are now set, i REALLY hope some promotion picks up - like, they should throw some money into sponsored adds maybe? they can learn from the last SN tour. for example, i look at the TM now, and i see Roger Waters, but i don't see BuckVie. why is there no banner on top of TM for BuckVie? you want bums in seats? well let people know you are touring! their social media has been sluggish, after it first started - why is there no real engagement? either with fans, FM acct, other acts they know who are active on social media and can amplify the message (when there is anything actually posted to amplify)?

2. pricing of the tickets - there's too small of a spread in prices. platinum tickets for some venues showed up after everyone who would have paid for them already paid even more from scalpers. meanwhile lawn tix for $60?? are you kidding me?? you need to have real cheap tix for lawn, some reasonable prices in the middle, and real high plats or VIPs or something upfront. meanwhile they have just all middle of the road prices for the whole venue, there's no spread of choices.

3. even when there is promotion, like interviews or review articles (yeah, yeah, i know they are not responsible for those), many don't end up with saying BuckVie are touring, but instead saying - "....... and they will rejoin Fleetwood Mac this summer for Classic shows" adding FM will be having farewell tour next year. seriously?

i can go on... but i needed to get some of this out.

I'm pleased to see your post, so thanks for that, as I know you are knowledgeable about venues, tix, etc. I wasn't sure I could do any of these show (children, schedules, etc., don't permit much flexibility), but I hope to go to the newly added Ohio show. However...

I'm confused about tix, at $83.00, $72.00, $62.00, $51.00, $23.50 (McDonald's deal), will there also be Platinums or do we try from on sale time & hope for the best? Will it sell? Should I plan on scalped tix as my best option? For FM I often wait for drops, usually like to get row 4-6 centre, as I think the sound is decent & I can see JM, and for BuckVie I want close but doesn't have to be front row. Sales look slow at other venues though so will I get Tix or will scalpers get them..

And, more important, this lack of promotion is doing my head in. I posted elsewhere that I was confused as to whether or not the Wallflowers open all shows, as they play the Ohio venue the day after BuckVie, the tickets are already on sale for their show, and I've seen pop-up ads, yet all is quiet for BuckVie.

I share your wish for smaller venues. I'm so excited to see this show as it thrills me to see CM back writing, creating, working with LB, happy, but I wish they had better organised people on the social media /marketing front.

I could not disagree more with your post. The venues are actually pretty small. I was looking at some venues today and some theaters are quite small.
Ticket prices are wonderful. Lawn seats are not in your typical amphitheater that seats 20,000. So "lawn seats" at these small venues are quite intimate and still a bargain IMHO.
As far as promotion, not sure what else they can do. They are on all these channels, The Tonight Show, CBS Sunday morning, Rolling Stone, and so many other outlets. I think promotion is fine.
I think this is the biggest bargain summer tour ever. You will pay an arm and a leg for peanut heaven seats at some stadium to see the Mac this summer. You are seeing something that has never happened before and to hear NEW music plus some Mac hits in small theaters. Its out of this world and pricing and venues could not be better IMHO

see, if these were really in small theaters i'd completely agree with you. so yeah, Seattle show was a bargain, for seated parts. so was Detroit show and casino shows that were just added. all together those "some theaters" you meantioned are really just like 4 shows out of 20, and most of them are not theaters but casinos. and most of their shows did not have platinum seating (like other similar acts have in those same venues), and so best tix are only avaiable on scalper sites for like $500. that money could have gone to them, and those seats were never available on TM. and i don't want to pay that money to a scalper.

but i've been in the sheds (not small theaters!) that they mostly have booked. i've sat in the loge at wolftrap. you need some kind of binoculars to see who is even on the stage. and the lawn is your regular lawn, as in any shed. nice for a picnic with some background music, but you will barely see that someone is even on the stage, you'll just hear the music. and i love wolftrap. but again, lawn needs to be cheap if shed, not $60.

and yes, i'm not talking about ridicoulus Classic shows at stadiums. i agree with you these are way overpriced. i'm talking about more regular shows. or shows of their peers. or, if they are interested in younger audiences.

i wanted to see BuckVie in Warner Theatre in DC, or similar small theater around the area. i wanted to see them in Beacon in NYC, not at the shed by Philly. those are small theaters to me, and Brian Wilson plays there, to name just one of their peers. and Prince did too. there is no bad seat at that place.

so yeah i agree with you their average price is cheap, but for that you will get somewhat or really crappy seats. there are no really expensive seats (except through scalpers) and there are definitely no $15 lawn seats that people who are normally going to those sheds are used to.

that's another part that's frustrating - there's no rhyme or reason to it, and each venue is different. i'd tell you that's it's worth waiting for drops, and for some venues there were platinums showing the first day of presale while for others plats showed up 2 months after tickets went on sale, for like $500 and than after a week those dropped to like $290 which was more reasonable. for other venues, pit tickets showed up all of the sudden after 2 months of onsale. it's all completely random, so i really don't know what to tell you, sorry!

Thanks for the recap! I will see what pops up for the pre-sale or general sale. Chances are I'll panic buy something that I can live with, then make myself crazy for two months monitoring drops! I hope it's straightforward, but I appreciate knowing it might not be.

Default BuckVie venue in Seattle

A couple weekends ago we went to pick up our wine from the Wine Club I joined to get early access to BuckVie tickets at Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery just outside Seattle. Thought I'd share some photos for anyone who might also be going to this show and just fyi about venues for anyone else interested.

This first one is the stage, from the side. If you were the performer, this is the side to your right (to your left if you're sitting in the audience):

This is a panoramic view of the seating area-- the white tent furthest to the right side of the photo is the back of the lawn seating area (note there are some white tents in between). You can see the concrete pad for the actual seating area with seats in front of the stage:

More of the grounds:

Promotion poster inside the winery:

For those who bought the Wine Club membership to get earliest tickets, here's where you can sample your wines before the show:
