Do you mean blended whiskey or proper single malt whisky (scotch as known in the US of course!) As someone who grew up surrounded by distilleries in the part of Scotland where some of the best whisky is made, I'm a sucker for a good single malt such as Talisker or Balvenie. Those, you do NOT mix with Sprite!

I think it's disgusting - would much prefer a mug of hot fresh lemon and lovely honey, will a liberal helping of whiskey! Does the job much better!

Do you not mix it, there? I much prefer Coke, but my insomnia issues keep me from ordering caffeine products, at least in the PM. And FEW bars carry caffeine free pop, so I've accepted Sprite, as my unfortunately significant other.....

Ok - with whisky I was distinguishing between single malt whisky, as made from one grain only, versus a blended whisky that is made from more than one grain. Single malt whisky (or single malt Scotch) tends to be more expensive and and one that you'd have a small measure (or "dram") of in a glass with or without water/ice (rocks). They are usually named after the distilleries where they are made. To mix a good single malt with anything other than a drop of water is just plain bad.

Blended whiskies are made by mixing different types of grains together. They are cheaper and these are the ones that are made with different types of grains. This is your Chivas and other brands etc. Any drink that calls for whiskey would always use a blend.
