1. Were our passwords compromised?
2. Chrome warns us that this site is not secure.

If you have an active email associated with this site,
I'd be concerned.
It's odd that you mentioned the email addy, because for the past couple of weeks, my spam has increased ten fold, if not more. I even called my isp this week, trying to figure out if they changed their filters or something. I block it all when it comes in, yet it keeps coming (and that hasn't happened for a long long time).

Yes. The Ads are to blame for the slow time. I installed a Popup and Ad Block program and my load time is normal now. Something in the Ads is trying to load malicious software or hack. I have a Mac or use IPhone so am unaffected by the malicious codes and ads. The Blocker filters out the ads so all I get is the regular site

I've always had an ad blocker, so I've never seen any ads. I haven't noticed anything different here.

Wonder if my two questions could be officially
answered by someone in the know?

Thank you SisterNightRoad for the time that you put in cleaning things up. Fleetwood Mac was buried in Russian porn, until you saved them. Michele

How would I know if your email address was compromised. AfAIK, the posters only had access that other users like yourself have and wouldn't be able to get your address. They were not in the administrative panel. But I am certainly no IT expert.

I just asked a few legitimate questions, you needn't get
snooty about it. As I am no IT expert either.

I'll say it again, how did anyone not notice there were
several "new" members with names very similar? And
these members were always on here at the same time.
That should have caused suspicion.

If these members caused the "Ledge" to slow down, who
knows what else they were able to do. As I mentioned
before and Homer (David) confirmed they probably gained
access to our email accounts. Maybe even pm's.

Last point (again) - Google Chrome says this site is not
secure.

Whenever you make a haughty post wondering why someone isn't answering your question, I will get snooty. Be assured. Michele

I don’t have any problems with this site, ad-wise or in terms of loading time.

Not sure what’s unsecure here either. For those concerned, maybe changing passwords would be a good idea.

I'm not saying that my spam explosion was due to the Ledge spam hacks, but it certainly made me curious.

That is all.

Given the news, it is rather amusing to me that it really is coming from Russia. In the past I had DDOS attacks from Asia, but over the last months it has been Russia.

I understand that sites that use flash like this one does are flagged as unsecure by google, because flash is outdated.

In the past, I could go in and use a command to kill processes that made the site slow. But I no longer have access to the server, so I can't change the speed.

Michele

Well I'm certain that MANY of us miss your owning and governing of this beloved site.

You were certainly a high point in my 14 years here. I sincerely thank you.
