Default Your chance to Lord it at classy Cornbury fest

Jul 1, 2009

TWO new additions to the line-up in the shape of the Lightning Seeds and legendary “lost” blues guitarist and Fleetwood Mac founder Peter Green mark the countdown to the sixth Cornbury Music Festival with less than a fortnight to go before the event takes place on the weekend of July 11/12.

The Oxfordshire stately home of Lord and Lady Rotherwick, whose glorious parkland provides the venue for the festival which its promoter Hugh Phillimore describes as a farmer’s market with a dancefloor.

He says of two of the headline acts this year: “There aren’t any festivals in the UK that could mix Sugababes with the Damned! We’re very proud of our musical diversity and family friendly ethos”.

The announcement of sponsor Walls Ice Creams is also being acknowledged by a promotion that sees a number of free tickets for children being made available via website bookings. It’s a move that Hugh hopes will see grandparents and their grandchildren enjoying a fabulous free weekend in idyllic parkland.

Other artists performing at this year’s festival include Brit nominated live maestros Scouting For Girls, the retro classic chic of Sharleen Spiteri’s new oeuvre, the classic Magic Numbers, new stars Teddy Thompson, Imelda May, Ava Leigh and legends The Pretenders making a welcome return.

Ticket prices for adult weekend with camping are £110, under-16s £65. Day ticket rates are adult £55, under-16s £27.50. Camping is available on the beautiful Cornbury Estate.

Details on the festival website.
