I love to observe people and their behavior.

Maybe I have been living under a rock. But I had no idea that so many people had tattoos on their bodies. Honestly’ I am not a tattoo fan. The way I see it’ I probably would go along with any trend’ as long as it wasn’t something that was permanent.

I would want to be sure that I could get rid of it if my belief changed’ and/or after I had realized what I had done was silly and stupid. But that’s just me.

Although I would never have a tattoo put on myself’ I admit that many of the ones I saw were really beautiful and true works of art. And so’ now my tattoo antenna was up. Suddenly I began to notice people with tattoos everywhere. It’s almost as if the trend just started.

This week’ a woman at the post office took me back to Puerto Rico. She was standing in front of me in line. And guess what? Yes’ she had a tattoo on the right side of the back of her shoulder.

It was a great picture of Stevie Nicks. Oh’ and for those of you who don’t know who Stevie Nicks is’ well’ we have something in common. I had no idea who in the world she was until my waiting-in-line companion told me.

Without getting too into it’ Stevie Nicks is a light rock singer who was hot in the 60’s and 70’s. Now the big question: Why in the world someone would go through so much pain to tattoo a total stranger on his or her back? Can you guess? Well’ I can.

It all comes down to emotion. In this case’ it’s pleasure. Emotion is a little word that rules our world. I bet you that the lady tattooed Stevie on her shoulder because of the way Stevie’s music makes her feel.

It’s obvious that it must be a deep-seeded emotion. It was so deep that the woman made a lifetime commitment to carry the photo of a stranger on her back! Now that is a true fan!

Would you like for others to carry you’ perhaps in their hearts and minds for a lifetime? Well’ go out and start making people feel great and you will have friends for life.

You see’ you don’t have to be a doctor in order to operate on someone’s heart! Have you ever noticed how some people change their colors when you shower them with high praise? I am telling you’ a chain of chemical reactions take place at the moment a “heart is touched.” Try it and observe.

Emotion is what makes the world go round. But keep in mind that I am talking about pleasurable emotion. And with repetition’ it can undoubtedly cause others to want to tattoo you on their backs.

Right now’ no matter where you are’ you have the power to make someone feel good. And it doesn’t cost one red cent to make that happen.

The Raging Receptionist: Guest Star: Pearl

Give Stevie Nicks her skirt back. And for the love of all that is good and holy woman, DROP THAT PERFUME BOTTLE! You smell like a walking hay fever attack. I'm worried that I may ACTUALLY sneeze my brains out every time you walk by me. ...

From Mog.com
http://mog.com/lyriquediscorde/blog/2084527
"Do you know how to pick up the pieces,
and go home?"

Rumors was one of those albums that I remember hearing in my house as a child. I think it was one of my Mom's favorites for a while, and it became one of mine, as well. It is still one of my favorite albums of all-time, one that I can listen to from start to finish, side one to side two, and completely enjoy.

This song, though, always stood out to me.

It is one of those powerful songs that I like to throw on when I'm feeling weak, or heartbroken, turn up as loud as my speakers (and ears) can stand, and sing-a-long. The lyrics, and the feel of the song, feels like strength, survival and freedom to me - and I think that is why it is one of my "turn to when I need strength" songs.

Especially the line I quoted above.

Stevie Nicks is one of my musical heroes, which perhaps I'll one day craft a list about - her voice, her style, her lyrics, the way she has survived, and evolved.

I also love Hole's cover of this song.

Only Carrie Fisher in Return of the Jedi could displace Stevie

Stevie Nicks - Edge of Seventeen (1981): It’s funny, I am four songs into this and three are from 1981, what a total CHEESE year! I think if you were to poll many men my age, they would admit to having huge crushes on Stevie Nicks. This is from her first solo album, Bella Donna. A year later, HBO featured Nicks in concert. She danced around in floor length, chiffon skirts that held her breasts tightly–all of these combined to create 13 year old madness! Needless to say, I watched it whenever it was on TV. Did I mention that I think this song kicks ass?

Default Dave Stewart working on Stevie Nicks album together with Mick Fleetwood

Dave Stewart told ethrill.net today that he is not only working in the studio together with Mike Campbell (Tom Petty’s Heartbreakers) on the next Stevie Nicks album, but also with the help of Mick Fleetwood!

As reported here in the past months Stewart and Nicks have written and recorded numerous songs together already including at least one duet (see previous news posts about the collaboration and listen to a first snippet here).

Stevie Nicks and Mick Fleetwood are musical partners in “Fleetwood Mac” (“Rumours”, “Tusk”) since 1974 when Nicks joined the legendary band. Although she had as successful solo career as well, they re-joined over the past decades again and again.

The writing and recording sessions for Dave Stewart’s upcoming solo album are going to start soon in Nashville but at the moment he is still in the studio with Stevie, Mike and Mick.

Default Stop Draggin' My Heart Around

Though Fleetwood Mac chanteuse Stevie Nicks enjoyed name supremacy on this track, the fact that the song is a Tom Petty-Mike Campbell composition is about as surprising as a twenty-something celebrity meltdown these days. Petty and the Heartbreakers always put a distinctive stamp on their performances, but this track screams Campbell and Benmont Tench before the first bar is complete. It’s a shame that this tune is not widely seen as a classic from the band’s repertoire, as Nicks’ presence may enhance the production but certainly never exceeds what the Heartbreakers can do on their own. At around 1981, Petty was at the peak of his melodic sorcery, and this song continues to enchant as freshly as ever.
