Default Woohoo

Thanks mate, that's really good of you.
It really serves me right for not checking out the site enough - I just "use you for your mp3s" lol (hey that could be a good country song!!)

I've been 'waiting on the acoustic Countdown' for ages now since I first heard of it. It was fantastic to get that other Sports Bar series. Thanks Neil, much appreciated.

These mp3s are H I L A R I O U S!!!

I always wanted to know where that quote came from...

Caller: "Lindsey would you go back to Fleetwood Mac....I mean...if they begged....if they really really BEGGED...?"

Lindsey: "How do you know they already haven't?"

That last caller...."Kevin" I think he said his name was......he was scary...! He sounded like some sort of stalker or something!

Thanks a million Neil!

I know!! They seemed to handle it pretty well - If I were them I woulda freaked out and gone to the next caller!! But then he asked some pretty sane questions - it was real interseting to hear how it was really the whole band who disapproved in the 'Silver Springs' debacle - I had no idea.
Yeah the DJs have a really good sense of humour - better than the sports bar DJ, he was more trying to do vocal acrobatics with his ultra deep voice half the time!

Thanks for posting these Neil.

I get a good chuckle out of Kevin's call though. He's the one who says he wants to ask about something between Stevie and Mick, isn't he? At first Lindsey says, "Uh-oh!" Clearly, he's initially thinking the question might be about something else between Stevie & Mick, rather than the Silver Springs situation. A really funny interview.

Yeah, and the sports bar DJ was bit of a kiss up, but then again if I saw Lindsey I would be gushing with admiration, too! In fact, I can even sympathize with that first lady caller on the John and Billy show, who had to hang up because she was too nervous to speak. When I went to AHI this past December, I was actually RELIEVED Lindsey didn't show up at the after party because I was so nervous about talking to him!! If I saw him I would probably be too afraid to ask him for an autograph, but instead just stand and stare, shaking, rendered speechless by my awe of him. I actually spent huge amounts of time rehearsing exactly what I would say (in that minute he signed his autograph) so that I wouldn't freeze up and look like a goober. I wish I were exaggerating but it was a real fear only alleviated by his not being there! Sad but true!

Oddly, I wasn't scared crapless to talk to Stevie. I've tried to analyze it and I think it's because she feels more like a normal person to me, whereas I have a complex of unworthiness around guitar-god and genius Lindsey Buckingham.

Oh, Nancy, I'm laughing so hard from reading your post that my eyes are watering............damn mascara!

So here's what I'm gonna say if I ever get to share air space with him,

"Look, I'm scared crapless to talk to you, and I promise I'm really not such a goober.......really I'm not, and I rehearsed this......hey, Lindsey! Where you goin'? Come back and sign my Buckingham Nicks LP! Wait, don't run!"

Yep, I'm sure of it!

Default ONE GOOBER HERE

I mentioned in another thread that I got backstage at one of the OOTC shows and got into a "meet and greet" with a bunch of people that actually were supposed to be there!

ANYWAY when it was my turn to get up to him I think I muttered something like, "Great show" and slid a poster I had ripped off the wall to him for him to sign. My friend, who likes Lindsey but isn't nearly the fan I am, stood there and chatted for a couple of minutes about other music and stuff like they were old buddies!
I stood there speechless.

When we got outside my friend was like, "Why didn't you say anything?"
"I just...I just...I just..."

So the moral is keep rehearsing folks!

Hehe. I almost think the reverse is true for me. The more I rehearse the more I trip on my tongue when I'm presented with the person I wanted to say something to because if it doesn't start out right, I'm lost from the word go. If it's more spontaneous, chances are greater I'll say something stupid, but at least I'll get the words out. I don't know which is better...or worse.

Great story though. Wonderful that you had the chance to meet him and that at least your friend had a good chat!

Question Silver Springs

In the "nudity always sells" clip, when Lindsey was talking about Mick getting a bad rap for leaving SS off of Rumours when it was actually a group decision, he said something about "in many ways it was co-written and Stevie wanted to use it for something on her own". It went by really fast and does anybody know what he meant by "co-written" other than maybe the group felt it was a Fleetwood Mac song and not a Stevie solo song?

Neil - I love these - thanks for sharing.

Lindsey may have said that "in many ways it was co-written and Stevie wanted to use it for something on her own" in respect to the musical arrangement that was put on that track. I think in the Rumours - Classic Albums DVD, Ken Caillet refers to the layering of the guitar parts as being the best production work that they had done on Rumours.
