If Stevie bought the colonial house in June 2005, then it must be the one she talks about in that Australian interview, which was issued in December 2005. It says: "Like a true gypsy, Stevie moves often (on tour she often changes rooms in the same hotel after a while) and is actually leaving this home for a new house two blocks away, where every room, she says, will be recreated as it is here. "This house was a great bachelorette house, but there's a not enough privacy if I want to have a man here, or friends to stay, or my family. We would all be on top of each other. I have god-daughters and a niece I adore, and I want to have them with me." " And it turns out the move wasn't what she thought it would be: "Nicks has lived here for two years, and it was a mistake, she says, from day one. So she is moving to a penthouse apartment on the beach and the house is on the market. 'I saw it, and there was this big family living here that obviously loved it. So there was a vibe here. And something in me thought, maybe I can have that. I was not here three days before I thought, what the hell do I here? I was too shallow and stupid to realise that it wasn't the house I'd fallen in love with but the mom and the dad and the four kids, and the smells of the cooking.' " link It seems rather sad that she expected a bunch of friends and family to join her at the big new house. . . and no one showed up? And then she winds up in an apartment, which is surely smaller than the Spanish house. None of this makes any sense to me. What does Stevie want from life? |

That would make sense. Didn't she say it was a "Dutch Castle"?
Do you know what it means? I figure "Kasteel" must mean Castle but what about the rest. Thank you for the info. Jim |

http://http://www.calendarlive.com/f...0,910734.venue Also known as Kasteel Kamphuyzen, the 6,000-square-foot main house and 1,600-square-foot gatehouse are perched on the edge of a canyon in Beverly Hills. The castle was built in 1981 by Beverly Hills designer Mark Nixon and named for his business partner, Baron Herbert Hischemoeller van Kamphuyzen of the Netherlands. The structures, with stepped gables inspired by the 16th-century castles and townhouses of Holland, have been the scene of many civic, corporate and charitable galas. -- Cecilia Rasmussen |

[QUOTE=David;734400]Profit? The house hasn't sold yet.
OK, technically, a "potential profit." 5 Million in 2 years. I'd take that!!!! In this market or any, doubtful that they'd pay 14 Mill for it. Even the rich have to downsize now and then!!! Glenn |

Stevie said her license expired in 1978. I guess she could and did legally drive herself up until then.

That's awesome. I never would have guessed the home was that new. It does not match any of the other more modern homes in the neighborhood. Thanks! |

Thanks for this information too. I'll bet they are very expensive. If you guys could see this place when you are coming up the canyon...you'd have to catch your breath. It's that...WOW!

She drove in that Walter Egan video "Blonde in a Blue T-Bird", but I guess that was '77 or '78 so before her licence expired.

As for her profit, after two years, each owner occupant gets the first $250,000 tax free and then must pay tax on the remaining profit. So, if she makes all $5 million (a big if) and she pays 6% of the $14,000,000 selling price to a broker, which is $840,000. So, $840,000 + $250,000 = $1,090,000. ($14 million - 1,090,000) - $9 million = $3,910,000. $3,910,000 * 75% (there is a 25% capital gains tax) = $2,932,500, which is what she will make less any California capital gains tax, other taxes, and closing costs. On Edit - THANK YOU PAULA!!!!!!!!!!!! -- I hope I did that one correctly I do not think she can do a 1031 exchange for this proptery, though she has a commercial studio in it. But, I sure would take $3 million in two years while living in the palace that earned it Last edited by strandinthewind; 12-18-2007 at 03:38 PM.. |

^ Wait, I thought brokers/realtors got paid commission on the final selling price, not the profit? Am I mistaken or did you mispost?
And you never know - maybe some rapper nobody's ever hear of will come in & start renting it. |
