Reason there won't be a new album: The simple fact is that Lindsey and Stevie have grown too far apart as people and, most significantly, as ARTISTS. An album like Say You Will came about because a) most of the material existed prior to recording the album (it was not created via collaboration) and b) Lindsey was given much greater control over the album's sound and in constructing her songs prior to her arrival. Now, you might say that they would just return to the Say You Will model, with minimal Stevie involvement. That would be fine by me because Say You Will is a masterpiece and the best Stevie has been since "Gypsy"! BUT Stevie doesn't see things my way (or, one presumes, Lindsey's). She hates Say You Will so she won't allow that to happen again--and she has a leg to stand on: IT FLOPPED. Which brings me back to my original point: these two will never go into the studio to write songs together again. There will be no new Fleetwood Mac album with Lindsey and Stevie ... EVER. (Well unless her new solo album flops jajajajaja ... so there's hope)

So, if that won't happens, who's with me for a Men of the Mac album? For a fourth member, they could get Bob Welch for singing and playing guitar (and have some duels on songs with Lindsey). It would be seriously awesome, but does anyone agree with me?

I love Bob Welch but I don't see any reason to have him back--unless Mick does my full-reunion album concept. MICK, ARE YOU LISTENING??? So anyway, I wouldn't want that... and, fortunately, neither would Lindsey. Ever.

I have no idea in what manner John, Mick, Lindsey could put together a FLEETWOOD MAC album. I'm not saying they couldn't; I just personally can't conceive of how.

They could call themselves Men of the Mac, like how Ronnie James Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and a different drummer play as Heaven and Hell rather than Black Sabbath. It could be an interesting concept and make some interesting music.

I agree. But I think that with the three of them RECORDING new music, it would basically be a Lindsey solo album with Mick and John as the rhythm section. Which would be awesome. But not exactly Fleetwood Mac. And thus not likely. As only Fleetwood Mac sells.

Yeah you're right. I dunno what to say about no new album (haven't really heard Say You Will, wanna see Destiny Rules for the singing fish scene and something else I'll only say via PM).

Same here. I'd pay to see the Mac again if Chris was back.

Christine is the only person on the planet who could make another Fleetwood Mac album happen. If she said: yes. They would ALL fall into line.

I don't mean to be rude, but, in what world is a top 3 album a flop? Especially considering their age, and so on, I would have thought it would have been seen as a success.

I can't see Stevie's next album flopping either, I reckon it'll hit top 10/5 on name recognition alone.

That's not rude. I don't claim expertise on the industry. I guess to me a successful album would be one that sells as well as their previous album (The Dance sold, what?, 5 mill). In Destiny Rules, they project potential sales of 3 million if it's a one-disc album vs. 300K for a double-disc. I don't think SYW cracked even 1 mill--compared to artists like The Eagles and Sade who sell millions w/ new product. All that sacrifice and they still sold closer to 300K than to 3M that's for sure. It didn't make a mark critically or with the media or with audiences. It didn't receive a single Grammy nod. I think it's the best American album of the 00s--and not just cuz I'm a fan; I don't know that their 80s albums would make my top 50 of that decade. As for opening in the number 3 slot, well I would have to look at whether or not it was a slow weekend at the box office (as they say) and I'd have to investigate whether the draw of star power evidenced by that first-week showing was sustained. Of course it opened big, but did it hang on?

Well, first of all, define "potential" in this particular context. SYW scanned about 750k in the US, and Warners was quite content with that. Stevie's just annoyed because the ridiculous financial excess of the album's production negated the possibility of any net proceeds. When your album is #1 for 33 weeks, you can afford to putz around in Sausalito/LA for a year contemplating navels and crystal visions, but if you're FM in the 2000's (and beyond) and you *NEED* all the accouterments that only the biggest acts in the world can financially justify just to record an album, you're screwed.

Secondly, are you actually comparing Fleetwood Mac to Eagles/Sade? Really? That's all kinds of crazy for reasons way too many to list.
