Obviously you haven't experienced the pleasure of Trader Joes on Union Square. The checkout line goes out the door, but it's so worth it for the prices and mocking the hipster NYU kids working there.

I've been there. Too far for me when I can walk around the corner. My roommate is an army brat so she has a card for the Commisary...we go there for cheap prices sometimes....when we want to go to Queens.

I don't think anyone ever actually wants to go to Queens.

thats awesome that you found a great place for a good price. good for you! i always check out the real estate there but where I would want to live which would be Soho or Greenwich Village is a little too pricey. my hubby is always like lets just move to Queens, ha! he is a huge mets fan so that would be great for him.

Why go? There's a thin guy who's wrinkled and old, can't play proper guitar and whose singing is earbleeding. And he blocks the view to that slick singing energetic passionate killer female singer that you mistake for your mother.

have fun?

Just got back... great crowd! I'm not sure if it was a complete sellout, but it sure looked that way to me- I couldn't see any empty seats. Anyway... it was another great show- Lindsey was fiery as usual, Mama was still a bit tepid. She looked tired. But she finally sang the high melody on Gypsy on "...and it lights up the night." I've hated how she skipped that in the recent versions.

Oh, and "Don't Stop" is now being performed in its original key. Since when did they start doing this? It sounds good again.

Oh... and I must admit that this was the best version of "Sara" I've heard in the "modern era." I remember cringing when she belted it on the SYW tour, but she has really toned it down- so beautiful.

One thing that I've noticed about Mama this time vs. SYW is that she does not dance anymore. She doesn't even shimmy in place. She just plants herself and plays a little tambourine, shakes a few ribbons, but there is just no joy in her performance anymore. She seems to do a few twirls out of obligation, but that's it- she's not really feeling the twirl anymore.
