The Eagles have sold more albums for sure, I'm not sure about concert tickets...

In the USA The Eagles have sold 88 million albums, and Fleetwood Mac 48.5 million..

And of course the Eagles now hold the title for having the Best Selling Album in Music history...

But in all fairness, NOW in 2005 both groups are on the same level I would say in terms of concert ticket sales, etc..

....which is a compilation. That's not an album. I wonder if they have a regular album that sold as much as Rumours did. But hey! Who cares.

I like his music, I hate the things he says. So if I do not sound like a fan, it's 100% due to remarks like this about FM, that makes it a dork for me. But when he's singing and playing drums toghether... the guy is greatness. I just don't want to see him in Stevies range.

if you sell 28 mill of any album regardless of what kind of album it is.....if its your music....thats an accomplishment. plus you're really reaching for a reason to put down the eagles as their hotel california album has sold 16 mill of its own...only 3 mill less than rumours. thats nothing to frown upon. and it's not like FM hasn't sold their share of compilation albums. I'm not an eagles fan (though i do like a few songs for sure) and I'm a huge FM fan but you gotta give credit where credit is due.

Well, since The Eagles haven't made a record of completely new songs since 1979 maybe he was confused and talking about them throwing in the towel.

True - but DH (which could stand for di@k head - I mean it as Don Henley ) - had some cool solo stuff up until abuout 1992, though I think his best solo ended around 1985 or so.

It's quite possible since the bulk of the E's catalog is greatest hits comps.

I used to be a HUGE DH fan(that's Don Henley! ). Did you get his album that came out a couple years ago? The name is eluding me now.....Inside Job(I had to go look). It's not bad, but nowhere near his older stuff. I think Building the Perfect Beast is a perfect album.
But, yeah, he's a tool. He's SO full of himself! And he seems like he'd be about as much fun as a barrel of ticks to hang out with. But that voice is still great...

Reputable sources say he is having problems with it and that is the cause of the show cancellations for his and Stevie's tour.
I was shocked because I had never heard any weakness is his voice, ever.

I agree, esp. about Building the Perfect Beast. I met him at an AHI benefit - he was nice enough in that 70's huge star too cool for the room kind of way. I did make him laugh though by saying I sang Desparado horribly off key for my HS reunion - when he replied he was not sure he was too often on key - I retorted without hesitation that he had millions doing so - we laughed because he knew I dod not mean he was always off key, etc.

I've heard that, too - but it confuses me because if he were having throat problems, wouldn't they have cancelled the front end of the dates?? They maintained the June dates, and killed the July dates.

Like Toronto.

Not that I'm bitter.

Don's exact statement from the interview was...

"her group has permanently thrown in the towel, I think ---so she's officially a solo artist now"

I don't think he got that impression from Lindsey or John

I know. Maybe he needs time to recuperate so he can do the big money Eagles dates this fall.
