Offhand, only one shines above the rest for me - Mark Knopfler. Needless to say, the likes of Carlos Santana and Eric Clapton are awesome, but I don't listen to their music as much as Dire Straits. However, I'll make mention of Cat Stevens also.

Yeah, a shame he lost his will to play anything other than chords and single-line two bar solos in ballads! I hope Thin Lizzy can bring him back to his senses... i.e. please Viv, play Cold Sweat! Doug is really good, Burn/Stormbringer live with Whitesnake on Live... In The Still of the Night is my favourite, and his instrumental solo work is really good, check it out if you haven't.

OK, stupid me forgot more I enjoy. I'm gonna throw out the following. Thanks to all who helped me jog my memory.

Dimebag Darrell
Jeff Hanneman/Kerry King
Jimi Hendrix (TBH, I'm not that crazy for him, but I do dig his cover of All Along the Watchtower)
Nancy Wilson
Bonnie Raitt
Robin Trower (not many people know him, but he's really good)

Yeah, he really relegated himself to rhythm guitarist when he was an excellent lead. I hadn't heard he was joining Lizzy! I saw them in Belfast a few years ago with John Sykes and, while he was really good, I'd rather see them with Viv. Assuming he gets back to his Dio days in terms of form.

BB King, Eddie Van Halen, Kenny Wayne Shepherd & Casey James. OK, well Casey's still young & got a ways to go, but he's not bad.

All you had {WHACK!} to do {WHACK!} was not qualify {WHACK!} a particular ERA {WHACK!} of Clapton's career {WHACK!} and you'd have {WHACK!} spared yourself {WHACK!} the torture {WHACK!} {WHACK!} {WHACK!} {WHACK!} {WHACK!} But, NOOOOooooo! {WHACK!}{WHACK!}{WHACK!}{WHACK!}{WHACK!}

Chili: based on your list, you forgot one very important guitarist: me! I've been trying to play guitar and haven't gotten anywhere, but I couldn't resist.

And I'm sorry about the grammer mistake.
