Default Project: Make a coherent "Mac" album from BM and 24k

Back in early 2000s there were threads about making an album from In The Meantime and Say You Will.

How about making a single coherent album from 24k and Buckingham mcVie? Just to make it easier I'll add in EP

Goals and Challenge:

1. it has to be 10-12 songs
2. Stevie can't sing a song someone else wrote
3. There has to be a song with Lindsey and Stevie singing together
4. There has to be a song with Linds and Chris singing together
5. No more than 2-3 "solo" songs per person
6. The songs HaVE to be sonically similar and sound like the belong on the same album. Aka, don't just make an mix tape with your favorites.

Suggestions. Use White Album and Rumours as a "mold" and try to emulate the sequence of fast slow and feeling of songs.

Have fun!

I did this literally a day after Buckingham McVie came out, but I have 15 songs, so you're just going to have to deal.

Starshine
Red Sun
Love is here to stay
Belle fleur
Carnival begin
In my world
24 karat gold
Too far gone
Lay down for free
Without you
Feel about you
Sleeping around the corner
The dealer
Game of pretend
On with the show

i love you Erin, but this list is making me so happy that the album is BuckVie and not FM!

Like others, I did this when the album came out, if only to imagine what might have been, though I used Stevie's SYW songs for a more coherent sound, Lindsey's production. And yes, I broke the rules/goals of your challenge, but when I made this in June, my aim was to see what a proper double album w the 5 fireflies could have sounded like in this day & age. I actually listen to this playlist quite a bit, though nowhere near as much as the BuckVie album on its own.. Tulsa on Saturday!! Will be interesting going from the beautiful Chateau Ste Michelle venue, first show I attended, to a giant casino in Oklahoma. Hopefully the crowd is just as enthusiastic!

Sad Angel
Friend
Thrown Down
In My World
Red Sun
Miranda
Smile At You
Miss Fantasy
Feel About You
Bleed To Love Her
Say You Will
Lay Down For Free
Too Far Gone
Love Is Here To Stay
Destiny Rules
On With The Show
Carnival Begin
Not Make Believe

01 Sad Angel
02 Red Sun
03 Twisted
04 In My World
05 24 Karat Gold
06 Game of Pretend
07 Belle Fleur
08 Too Far Gone
09 Lay Down For Free
10 Carnival Begin
11 On With the Show
12 Without You

This is how I currently have a playlist set up on my iTunes and it would make a brilliant record in my eyes if split down the middle for a vinyl which is how I tried to sequence it. Of course, if there were to be a hypothetical "deluxe" digital version as is the current trend with music, then add these three;

13 Feel About You
14 Sleeping Around the Corner
15 If You Were My Love

But my basic, original tracklist still stands together on its own pretty well.

Props to ejof17's list! Very cool, and I took a few cues from it while making my own.

Fleetwood Mac - Carnival Begin

1. Feel About You (McVie/Buckingham) - open with an announcement of Christine's return!
2. Sad Angel (Buckingham/Nicks)
3. Hard Advice (Nicks)
4. Sleeping Around the Corner (Buckingham)
5. Carnival Begin (McVie)
6. The Dealer (Nicks)
7. Miss Fantasy (Buckingham/Nicks)
8. Red Sun (McVie/Buckingham)
9. 24 Karat Gold (Nicks) - something a bit dark and mysterious, in the penultimate "Oh Daddy" slot
10. Love Is Here To Stay (Buckingham)

This one is pretty good and at least follows the directions and challenge. I don't know about Hard advice though. It's a turd and pretty much the same song as That Made Me Stronger from TISL. I guess it does follow the TITN, SYW and I guess even BTM tradition of having at least ONE Stevie Turd in the mix. But on White Album, Rumours and Mirage she never had a Turd. So I would replace Hard Advice with something else. Possibly something she may have once recorded as a demo with FM.... Watch Chain?

See, I love "Hard Advice," it's probably my favorite song on the album!

However, "Twisted" or "Belle Fleur" could be a good replacement.

Fun exercise!

I think Hard Advice is a horrible song.
Maybe because it's not a song yet.
It's got 2 musical ideas crammed together with
some really bad lyrics that need some work!
And yes, I get the catchy chorus and guitar that makes
it tuneful - but that's not enough for me. She's so much better than this - and capable of so much more.

I'd go for Starshine, If You Were My Love,
All the Beautiful Worlds, or The Dealer to turn
Buckingham McVie into a great Fleetwood Mac album.
(And lose Game of Pretend).
