Most of my life I had snake nightmares too! Luckily I haven't had any this century!
That's so creepy that one slithered across your foot though.

but i love to watch the animal planet show where this guy goes out trying to find anaconda's, my god are those things huge, their heads are bigger than mine~ now that's a snake & it's on tv, that is about as close as i can get to a snake~
I am the same way! I find the shows fascinating, but I am deathly afraid of snakes. Last year at the zoo I very briefly and quickly touched a harmless snake (corn snake, I think) that a keeper held. That was huge for me. I only did it as I was with a 3 yr old who thinks snakes are 'so cute'. I've tried not to pass my fear to the children, but it's not easy...

lol...I'd have to move if there were that many snakes in my yard...I have a snake phobia. Even seeing them on tv makes my heart race and I get nauseated.

I like snakes, in the area where I reside is what is called the rattlesnake capitol of the US.

People freely have shows where they catch/handle/display live snakes for those who have the heart to be around 'em.

I cannot ever recall a time I have killed a snake, I usually catch 'em and release back into the wild (As I do with my fave critters scorpions).

I live down South in Dixie.
And I've had a Moccasin chase me.
All I had that day was a Crossman Pellet/BB gun,
in other words "one" shot. And no, I'm not Davy Crockett.
But I do have a coonskin cap (that's actually the truth).

it chased you? That's seriously frightening. I thought snakes were afraid of people and only attacked when they felt threatened.

Yes, it chased me. It was a very dark colored moccasin. The darker colored
ones seem more aggresive. It was on one of our pond dams and I guess he didn't
want me there.

Exclamation

Anyway - My hand to God, we had a boa constrictor in our backyard once - HUGE one. Right on the border between the yard and where the woods starts. Obviously it was somebody's pet that had gotten out. My parents called Animal Control and everybody called everybody and pointed fingers at each other and fought over whose job it was to come get the thing, and eventually somebody showed up and took it away. Interesting experience for them, at any rate.

I would have called Remington.

On a side note, my brother got bit and scratched by a squirrel today.
He had been a pet of my brother's, but we let him go in our yard. Well
I guess he's got a little wild since he's been out. I guess he's been talking
to those country squirrels, and their country ways are rubbing off on him.
The day before, I had handed him a Nutter Butter sandwich cookie. He loves
those. Anyway, if he bites me he will suffer the same fate as the snakes.

It's kind of late to be killing snakes...BUT!

My nephew and I were about to go outside a few days ago,
and I looked down on our front porch and guess what was
crawling across the bricks? Some big ole snake. And once
again.....................DEATH BY HOE.
