Default Empire of the Sun - Ice on the Dune

A friend of me texted me today and said I had to listen to Empire of the Sun's album Ice on the Dune because it reminded him of late 80's era Fleetwood Mac. I'm listening to it now and he's right. He described it as a happier Tango In The Night. It makes me think if Lindsey hadn't quit and they went right back into the studio. Definitely a Fleetwood Mac sounding album. Anyone else heard it? What do you guys think?

I agree- I've been listening to Empire Of The Sun for a couple of years now. Even their first album, Walking On A Dream is very Mac-ish. I guess it's that whole behind the beat rhythm.

Anyway, here's my fav song from Ice On The Dune:

(Youtube is sputtering at the moment and won't give me the embed link)

DNA is a sort of Mac-ish tune, too. It has some very sparkling, metallic guitars a la Lindsey Buckingham style.

We Are The People is probably my fav song from their first album, Walking On A Dream. That album is probably more like Mirage and their second is more Tango. Anyway:

Thumbs up Love it!

I'll Be Around sounds VERY much like Dreams throughout.

I love Empire of the Sun's music. It's so dreamy and cool. Their videos are really awesome too.

Thanks for the heads up as I didn't know they had new music out.

A few days ago I posted in the one of the Stevie Nicks threads about how she should go rogue and record pop/dance music like she used to. I suggested she work with Empire of the Sun and posted their instrumental "Old Flavours".

Imagine Stevie lyrics/vocals or even Fleetwood Mac like harmonies on that! It would be amazing.

They've specifically named 1975 era Fleetwood Mac as direct inspiration for their first album:

"What We've said a few times before is that everything else we've done was an apprenticeship but there was a joint love of the classics. 1975 was a key year for us with Fleetwood Mac and 10CC. That era was the peak in songwriting and production- before more technology came in." (mtv interview)
