None of you believe the unpopular opinion that it was STEVIE ALONE who got Lindsey fired. We all know the truth now. What a lousy thing to do.
It was the band's decision and they went with having Stevie on tour with them cause let's face it, without Stevie...no ticket sales. That's all. They could have picked Lindsay and told Stevie 'sorry', but they didn't.

He's a whiney twat and this just shows it. I believe he was always jealous of Stevie's success and almost had a, 'But I'm the great one' attitude. So now, he gets paid for 'not' going on the tour. Boo hoo. I don't hate Lindsay, He just makes me mad sometimes. Whatever the outcome the controversy has kept the tour on the news, so...I think they both won. They just don't realize it yet.

Ouch! But you may be onto something there. Paul Fishkin, Jimmy Iovine, etc...

This is how I have always seen him. A sour resentful bitchy little girl.

Or was it just that they were guys she worked closely with and ended up in bed with. No strategy, just hormones and drugs.

And why should Stevie be indebted to Lindsey for the rest of her life? They hate each other.
You are just as bad as the obsessed Stevie fans, only your obsessed with Buckingham!
He helped her with music, arranging her songs and got her into FM in 1974.
That was over 40 years ago.
Like it or not, Fleetwood Mac would never have been a supergroup without all 5 of the "Rumours" lineup.
Those 5 people made magic together.
Their chemistry.Their voices. Stevie wouldn't have made the band a supergroup without the other 4 members, and Lindsey wouldn't have made the band a supergroup without the other 4 members.
And Stevie also launched a very successful solo career, which at the peak of her solo popularity, she maintained as a member of Fleetwood Mac. She's one of the very few people that maintained a highly popular duel music career without leaving her original band.
You can hate her all you want, but the hate aimed at her is only from the tiny cult following of Lindsey. These boards don't represent the masses, nor do the twitter comments or facebook comments you can bring up.
Fleetwood Mac is selling out arenas right now.
I personally am not interested in seeing this version of Fleetwood Mac. I only care about FM with all 5 fireflies. But I'm not going to vent over and over on online groups about it, or hate a celebrity that I don't know personally.
Whatever went down between those two, we may never find out. The world isn't going to end because of it, and your lives will continue.
Lindsey is worth around $80 million dollars. He'll be fine.
Stevie doesn't have to be forever grateful because Lindsey helped make her a star, because he didn't make her a star. He gave her a platform, yes. But her voice, her charisma and persona is what made her a star.
It sucks that the band will most likely end without the final tour and album of our fave band. But the music will live on. Their reputation will still be legendary. The public will still love them.
Whatever happens will happen.
You can hate Stevie Nicks in these little forums online as much as you want but that's also not going to diminish her image either. The public at large isn't going to care. She'll still be an icon. Because the public at large have their own lives and are more concerned about their own lives and not about Fleetwood Mac breaking up or not.
Just my 2 cents.
Outside these forums, nobody really cares.
I have to agree with virtually everything you said, wildheart. I'd like to add that this band has benefited every member a thousand times over, so FM owes nothing to Lindsey anymore, or Stevie, or Christine. They have all sacrificed plenty for FM, but their returns have been bountiful.

The Stones have benefited Keith Richards tremendously. But if they kicked him out and deigned to still call themselves the Rolling Stones, it would take a toll on the band's name and legacy.

Not exactly the same, but close enough.

The Stones went on without Richards a long time ago. Guy looks like he's been dead for decades. It must take a complicated marionette set-up to puppeteer his dried up corpse through a show.

.
1977- Dreams, Gold Dust Woman, Silver Springs
1979- Sara, Storms, Angel
1982- Gypsy
All songs that would NOT have been a fraction as good as they are without his help. Listen to her songwriting demo of Gypsy and see all the layers he added in. Sara? Listen to the crescendoing backing vocals he added to give the song some much needed momentum, his sparkling and stellar acoustic playing on Silver Springs, along with his solo make that song, all the guitars, and sitars ad other effects on GDW were not her ideas.....etc etc etc

Oh and when she gets stuck on solo songs (many, but Soldier's Angel was one of the more recent ones) she calls him.

Petty said that Lindsey "is her best producer. I can be up all night trying to figure out what to do with one of her songs and then he'll go 'do this' and I'll think, yeah, duh, that's so obvious"

She could not get her songs out in a way that would have gotten them played and listened to by a wide audience without other people - Lindsey, Jimmy, Tom, Dave, Rupert.........and all the actual musicians. Lindsey can do a whole album by himself.

Excellent post. I agree with most of what is said here and this is the place I'm settling into these days from all the controversy of the past year.

I am looking forward to seeing Lindsey in concert next year, as it appears my chances of doing so are good. And highly anticipate his new album. As Lindsey said, I'd much rather look to the future than to the past.

Firing Keith would be like firing John. Firing Lindsey was more akin to firing Ron Wood.
