"In 2000, he returned to the studio again with a string of friends including Mayall, Bruce, one-time Rolling Stone Mick Taylor and Fleetwood Mac founder Peter Green to record Blues and Beyond - a record he said he had always wanted to make."
I'm glad he got to do this.

Dick Heckstall-Smith
Sad news indeed. Back in '67/68 at the Thames Hotel, as well as being a fan of the Mac, I was a big fan of John Mayall's Bluesbreakers. They were in their brass backed phase then with the "Crusade", "Diary Of A Band" and "Bare Wires" albums. Dick played on the last two and was in the band with Chris Mercer on saxes and later Henry Lowther on trumpet (and violin). Dick, along with Jon Hiseman on drums, took the Mayall band in a more jazzy direction Following on from that I bought the 1st Colosseum album "Those About To Die Salute You".
