Do any other non-Lindsey fans miss him?
I was one of the first to say I was looking forward to seeing the new sextuplet line up. It was new and exciting and enticing. Then they did a few interviews, my interest piqued.
All the anticipation - stupidly bought a ticket I won't be able to afford airfare for unless I get a new job or win the lottery. To Sacramento show, where I saw Stevie solo two years before. Now, lately, I keep thinking how stupid they (and most people think they is Mick and Stevie but we don't know for certain how involved the McVies were) were. The Rumours 5 put on a spectacular show in Sydney in late 2015. I am so happy I got to see them for what I was sure at the time would not be the last time. How wrong I was. I'm not one to get involved in the I Stand With Lindsey movement. The band made a decision I disagree with, there are conflicting accounts publicly and only they (the band) know the real story. But what they did was unfair to a man who had done so much for them. I will miss him. |

There are definitely 2 groups, those that feel excited and interested to see the "new group," and those that are angry/sad/ disappointed with the band for firing Lindsey.
I land firmly in the second group. So much so, that when I unexpectedly heard "Go Your Own Way" in a store suddenly, it felt like a physical punch in the gut. The sadness that washed over me was tangible, and heavy and deep. My eyes welled up, and I felt anguish similar to a death. For me, this is the death of the most important musical group in my life. The group that was the backdrop to my entire life. Through teenage years, school, university, marriage, babies, divorce, remarriage, etc, etc. When someone says that "I should just get over it," it is no different to me than a solid loss in my life. When someone says "It's only a band," it hasn't been to me. I am definitely a Lindsey fan, I will definitely miss him. For those that are non Lindsey fans and miss him, I feel your pain and will never minimize it for you. Grieve on, my friends. |

My sentiments exactly... minus the babies and remarriage part.

Music speaks to people in different ways. The band didn't speak to me before or after Lindsey, only when Lindsey was with them. The emotional tapestry that he painted on ALL of Fleetwood Mac's work is what I will miss the most. It just does not resonate the same. |

I will miss Lindsey's remarkable production on the band's recordings. And his role in the band as a whole onstage. I agree fully with everyone who says he was integral to the sound and success of FM over many years. But unlike many, I gave up on any new FM music fifteen or so years ago. Regardless of whose fault it might be, the five were NEVER recording as a team again. So we have lived with oldies tours for ages, and for me it doesn't really matter who is in the lineup, I do not go to the shows. The last I saw was Unleashed almost ten years ago.

Like many...Fleetwood Mac is the soundtrack of my life. I will not be seeing them on this tour. (my 2nd favorite band is Crowded House) and as much as I love Neil it’s not working for me. 2013 was my last MAC tour and will be the last time I will see them. New music and lots of energy. 1978-2013 not so bad. See you in November Mr. Buckingham.

I was drawn to the music of Fleetwood Mac as a child of the 1970's. I began buying their music at a tender age, and my mother took me to see The Rumours Tour when I was 7 years old. The Rumours lineup IS the definitive Fleetwood Mac for me. While I do have great appreciation for the Bob Welch recordings, The Mac for ME is Lindsey, Stevie, Mick, John and Chris. The 5 of them together create a magic that is unparalleled.
I have ALWAYS been drawn to Stevie Nicks and I am a huge fan of her solo work. Though I toss out my fair share of jokes regarding her persona, Stevie was the goddess of my childhood. Watching Stevie belt out "Sara" on the Tusk tour still gives me goosebumps nearly 40 years later. She has always been my favorite member--hands down. All of this being said, Fleetwood Mac is NOTHING without Lindsey Buckingham. I was there in the audience for the 1987-1990 Tours, and I can tell you first hand that the magic was gone-no shame on Billy and Rick--it just DID NOT WORK. I did not feel that magic again until 1997, which was like being BORN AGAIN for a Mac fan. It's extremely sad that the band has chosen to end its legacy in this manner. I'm still stunned. I have not purchased tickets to the 2018/2019 Tour. I have attended every Fleetwood Mac tour since 1977 (I even suffered through the dreadful karaoke "Time" tour), so this will be the first time that I'm sitting out. Oh, I know my absence won't make a bit of difference, the tour will make plently of cash. I simply cannot, in good conscience, financially support the firing of Lindsey Buckingham. Neil Finn and Mike Campbell are outstanding musicians, but this isn't Fleetwood Mac. Moreover, the audience filled with casual suburban fans isn't my scene. I wish them well, but I'll spend my $600 on a product of substance and credibility. |

I'll miss Lindsey, but I do have real life drama to worry about rather than getting bent out of shape over a band who's hey day happened two decades before I was born. I am excited and welcoming to the new lineup, I am praying Chris and Stevie get a few more nice songs in with Flynn doing some pre 1975 tracks. Lindsey's songs have always been my least favorite of the three writers. I understand the hurt over losing him, but I wish they'd just shut up and buy a ticket to his solo casino tour instead of trying to bleed negativity to those of us who are fine.

No, you don't understand the hurt since you have never been a fan. So, don't say you "understand". You don't. You're free to go to those empty arenas as many times as you want. If you're letting other fans' opinions to affect your idea of fun, that's your problem. This is an open message board. Have fun.

I think its wrong to divide fans as pro Lindsey and anti Lindsey. You are a Fleetwood Mac fan for lots of reasons but most important is the music. Lindsey is a HUGE part of the music. I really don't understand this thread.

Oh, wait, maybe you're talking about those four people who are not answering Lindsey's calls. Yeah, really mature. Thank God they're not my thing anymore.

I doubt either McVie's have any ill feelings towards him. But then again, anything to demonize the whole band and put Lindsey on a pedestal, right? |
