Wow, I couldn't disagree more. While she wasn't breaking any new ground with the song selection, all of her songs were well performed and impeccably arranged. I think the banjo-version of SYLM worked quite well--a charming interlude. And YMLF rocked the house. Her voice was flawless in that context and I didn't see her as phoning things in.

I totally agree with you.
I don't care if I ever hear "Stand Back" again. I would have LOVED to have heard "Brown Eyes" live...that would have been incredible.

Default Isn't it Midnight Manchester UK 8-25-1990

Here is another version from 1990 (with Billy & Rick) and it sounds a bit jazzier or revved up.

I think sometimes Fleetwood Mac were inclined to put the songwriters in their specific boxes:

Lindsey could do the harder, edgier stuff, Stevie had the mystical songs and Christine did the pop ballads.

all of them are perfectly capable of getting out of those boxes - Isn't it Midnight shows that Christine can rock.

Say you Will shows that Stevie can do a pop song and Say Goodbye showed that Lindsey does have a gentler side.

NO doubt if they tour again without a new album they'll revert to type.

Gail

PS thanks to eveybody who posted these different versions of Isn't it Midnight

I thought that Chris' dance songs all sucked execpt YMLF and her new song.
SYLM was horrific. They should have dont IIM on the dance tour, along with Hold Me [im still wondering why they didnt do that one...hell it did better than gypsy on the charts ] I liked the OMH from the Live CD, this one as said, was just missing something. Everywhere sounded wierd with Stevie in it...

I like the IIM from Tango ALOT better than from the Tango DVD [I saw it on youtube], I do like the addition of Stevies vocal to it, but just the arrangement was crappy!

Yes, even on the DVD, I abolutely love this song live. Wish they would have done it on the Dance.

I've heard "Hold Me" on the radio a zillion times. I just heard it in the grocery store about a week or two ago.

I've got Hold Me live from 1982 and 1990 - and I don't much care for the Live versions.

Mick stated somewhere (in his book?) that Chris wrote it for/about Dennis Wilson....anybody got a "yea" or a "nay" on Mick's comment?

(Or was that the little voice in Mick's head talking for him....?)

I think its a misprint. If not, it must have been a one off type of deal.

Searching youtube for live versions of IIM - I found this rather bizarre thing - but kudos to them for doing something!

Be sure and check out the outtakes
