Default Breathe deep in the gathering gloom

With all the great classics being listed, no one's listed the Moody Blues "Knights in White Satin" yet. Might as well put a final stake in our hearts!

I agree with most of the songs you all have said.

My picks:

- Most Bob Marley stuff. His music never did anything for me.

- Mmmbop by Hanson - WHAT?! It's just a bunch of jiberish! And to think my sister loved them...

- Most of this so-called 'punk' **** that kids my age are listening to. It's terrible! That includes songs by Good Charlotte, Blink 182, Linkin Park, New Found Glory, and Sum 41.

- Rap in general.

- American Pie, by Don McLean. I know it's already been said, but I just had to express my hate for this song.

Deffinetly. I only have "Tuesday Night Music Club" and its very non-commercail which I love. She still sounds pretty mediocre on it, but she can really write a song. '

Over rated songs are all the songs people my age listen to. I ask myself everyday why I wasn't born 20 years earlier.

Umm..that album was totally commercial, she released nearly the whole album onto the radio!!

Still..I LOVE Sheryl Crow, but I'm used to no one else liking her lol...that was my plight in high school, when Tuesday Night Music Club first came out, everyone hated her and I was like.."WooHoo!! Sheryl Crow.." ahahha...

Song of the moment - Child Of Mine
Oh no...I totally agree with American Pie...I've never cared for that song at all!! The only way I listen to it now is when I'm alone and can sing Weird Al's lyrics to it instead of the real ones...it's quite fun...!!!

I also agree with Celine and only the Whitney version of IWALY...I LOVE the *original* no one can do it like Dolly

Angel - Sarah McLachlan
It's a pretty song...but it's been overplayed. They use it when people die waaaay too much. I much prefer Building A Mystery.

Because You Loved Me - Celine Dion
*shudder* I can't stand anything by her...but this song and 'My Heart Will Do On' are really overdone.

Actually, I really liked Madonna's take on it.

I never could get into the length and slow tempo of the original... so I liked her abridged, uptempo approach.

Well, a lot of the songs listed I don't think are overrated simply because they're not songs that are talked about a lot and constantly played. They might have had their time (and i'm not saying ALL of them aren't overrated), but by overrated I think of the classic songs that EVERYBODY seems to like, talk about, or think changed the world. That being said, I have the three songs that I think are totally overrated:

1. Smells Like Teen Spirit - oh my God did I think Nirvana was awful. Sorry, but I actually like to hear the words that are being sung to me. Plus, maybe they changed music for a time with the whole grunge thing, but just because they changed music doesn't mean they did anything BETTER to it. I think the grunge music movement was awful, and I'm glad it's hardly around anymore.

2. Hotel California - it's an ok song, but I wouldn't call home about it if I heard it for the first time today. Bland and way too long.

3. Yesterday - Rolling Stone named this the #1 pop song of all time? Can you say yawn?

Now let Hell, fire, and brimstone fall on me as I post this, for I know I'll get heat for this.

I was going to include this but I do like much of the song. The guitar goes on forever before ending, though, just repeating & repeating. I've wondered what Lindsey (He of the creative "Murrow" ending) could have done with it.

I love her, too. Career-wise she reminds me of where Stevie was in the 70s, when it seemed like she was dating & recording with everyone.
