I haven't seen Moulin Rouge. Who is Baz Luhrman?

He's a director that tends to do very elaborate, colorful productions.

Other than the music, you're not missing much in not having seen Moulin Rouge, IMO. Big hype....that's what that movie was. I'd imagine an acid trip to be like that movie.

He's a flambouyant Aussie hack who makes artsy hits based on ripping off classic pop songs in combination with bad costumes.

That said, I liked the original 'Kissing You' from Romeo + Juliet, yet the movie still relied upon the Moulin Rouge-esque 'Wild Hearts Run Free' scene.

I saw some of Moulin Rouge but found it wasn't my cup of tea, and I eventually gave up.

I don't think anybody mentioned The Cook The Thief His Wife and Her Lover. Good. I hated that movie.

I am partial to Juliette Binoche and her heir apparent, Audrey Tautou. And of course Penelope Cruz. Her role in All About My Mother did it for me. A slutty nun! You gotta love that...

Oh, you meant films, not actresses! Eh, screw it. I'm going to stick with my choices anyway.

Sorry, but once again, I have to disagree. That would be my wife, and she is the namesake of a Lindsey song.

His first film, Strictly Ballroom, is far superior to those that have followed.
