Now, he might have refused to help her get permission from Warner's, but it was already going to be on the Fleetwood Mac box-set just a year and a half later, so why would he? That said, there was nothing preventing Stevie from rerecording it.
Well I thought the logic was, yes, that he wanted it for The Chain boxed set, thus explaining him telling her no.

But apparently, she's dumber than I, concerning these things...that's what you're saying, right?

Apparently. From what Bob Pollard has told me, the right to release an album/song goes back to the artist if it goes out of print for ten years.

Wonder what that means concerning the Bob Welch years? HAVE they been in print? Do things like Rhino count, or does it have to be the original record company?

From what i've heard and I've heard enough of this new album minus Lay down for free (which has been called "terrific" by one reviewer) and Game of Pretend (probably the albums only clunker) this is not the case. She doesn't want to work with Lindsey, and prefers being in front of an adoring crowd then in a studio for months. Plus she really likes the cash as evidenced by her statements. That's the real story.

I don't know if the Welch years are still in print. Rhino is owned by Warner's, so it probably counts for Fleetwood Mac, however, they license material, too. I was always perplexed at how Wendy was more concerned about getting Bob into the HoF, but seemed unconcerned about his music being available.

You already got a good answer from secondhandchain. However, I'd like to add that when questioned about the record, Stevie also mentioned that it would be great because "Christine is on fire"-- or something close to that. She may be over working with Lindsey, and possibly even the rest of the band, but she still has a huge respect for the quality of the music LB and CM make.

Btw: love your screen name. Imperial Hotel is one of my favs.

Wendy was pretty myopic in her vision of Bob's legacy(probably a direct correlation to his own). The HOF snub was the one that neither seemed to be able to get past. While I agree that it was wrong, it seems sad from both sides now, now that they're both gone. He truly deserved more than that from the band.
