Default Leftover material

We know that Lindsey and Chris have far more than 10 songs between them. In fact I think there were eight written by Lindsey alone that he originally recorded with Mick and John in Stevie's key.

And Mick has said they have a "****load" of new songs. Stevie was infamously quoted as saying there will be a new Fleetwood Mac album because "we have plenty of songs".

So given there is undoubtedly stuff still in the vault, what's the bet with what will happen to it? Buckingham McVie Part II? A final farewell album by Fleetwood Mac? A solo album one each from Lindsey and Chris?

Or perhaps something else entirely? Thoughts?

8 = 5 (b/m) + 3 (ep)

My prayer would be that(other than deluxe reissue) they might do this again. Watching the recording video, it just looks like they're finally enjoying the process. They look overjoyed!

I wonder how many millions of times he's regretted that "package deal" he made, 42 years ago?

I was puzzling over your post, thinking it was some complex equation, then the penny dropped and I realised b/m was Buckingham McVie and ep was Extended Play. Lol

I would love there to be another record, just depends if they still have the energy after the next tour. Plus if it is billed as a farewell tour then there's a problem there.

I think it was made clear Lindsey will be completing and releasing a solo record. There was also indication of a CM record too but I think that's less likely.

I suppose it would be asking too much for a 4-6 song EP from FM to go with the final tour as a goodbye gift.

Lindsey's comments about FM's body of work being static at 12:32 sound like the final nail in the coffin, not that he hammered it in himself...

I suppose we can all dream but I would bet this will be the last studio music we hear other than solo albums. If Stevie declined to be part of this album, I don't see her returning for a smaller album.
I am just thankful for anything we can get. I am very frustrated that the last "NO PRESSURE" album this band did with all 5 members was Rumours.

After Rumours the band and mostly Lindsey went out of his way to create something totally different (Tusk)
After Tusk the band went out of their way to do something more pop and radio friendly because of their Tusk wounds (Mirage)
After such a long hiatus of half a decade the band and especially Lindsey created a very pop album that was mostly a Lindsey solo album and Stevie's input was minimal (Tango)
Say You Will was a creative no pressure album but it did not include Christine

This album would have been what we were waiting for. An album of no pressure and full creative forces from these 5. Sadly that did not happen but I am so excited to hear Chris back singing and performing.

Call me optimistic but I really do think there will be one final Mac album. I also expect this album will do ok and that will be the bedrock for one final group effort.

If not, it is what it is, and I'm over the moon and do consider this a Stevie-less Mac album, what the band would have been in 1975 had Lindsey not dragged her in.

What really worries me more than anything is that I don't think John looks too well.

One of them is going to kick the bucket, and it will be too late.

We know whose fault that will be...

Either Stevie looked at John's cancer surviving and thought nothing about closing out his legacy with one final Mac album with the central line-up.

OR

She looked at John's cancer surviving and thought life is too short spend even another minute in the studio with Lindsey.

And I GET that she hates it, and they really can't stand each other(look at the joy between Chris and Lindsey....have we EVER seen that between them? They seem to adore each other!).

Her solo career is certainly strong enough. She ought to bow out gracefully, rather than keep them from doing one last album.

I think that if there is a final Fleetwood Mac album it will be with all 5 present in the studio from the start like the 1975-1982 years. We will see....I still believe there will be a new album to support a farewell tour. Of course good health pending.

Yup.

Lindsey has been writing and recording beyond those 8 songs and the 5 he did with Christine but that will come out on his solo album by the end of the year, hopefully.

Yes about Lindsey's static comment, it was kinda sad to hear him coming up with that justification for mac, considering plenty of bands of macs stature keep on creating new music. So I'd be shocked if there's another FM 5 album, but who knows, after FM farewell tour maybe Lindsey and Christine will get back together once again?
