This is my fav version of this song. I love how they're screaming at each other

That was awesome. I think that Mirage was some of their best concert performances.

I discovered Stevie and Fleetwood Mac about the time of Gypsy. But I think I kept getting confused between Gypsy and Stevie's solo stuff and Hold me and Love In Store being the band. In fact, years later when I went from being a casual listener to a huge fan I we shocked upon hearing Fleetwood Mac and Rumors that they were all the same band and that I had loved many of those songs over the years and never knew they were all from the same band. But Mirage is special to me because that was when I first got into them, and with all the changes in style Lindsey had gone through over the years it's this very image in that video of him with the vest and the hat and medium length curly hair (not yet the giant tower of fluff that was to signify his mid to late 80's appearance) that is my eternal portrait of him when I hear him sing. I think he's absolutely gorgeous here.

That's my ultimate favorite recorded performance of "The Chain." It evokes the same power vocal dynamic that existed in Jefferson Airplane. In fact, I just recently watched my original video that was released of that show. Unfortunately, it doesn't feature the entire set list.

It's criminal that the entire show hasn't been re-released on DVD. For a band of their stature, it's peculiar and frustrating that fans have just a meager amount of DVD concerts; only "The Dance" and "Live in Boston." Yet, fans of bands like U2 get to enjoy quality-produced concert DVDs from numerous tours.

I am grateful that I saw the Mirage tour show in Boston -- my very first Fleetwood Mac show -- before they began adding a whole band of support players. They put on an amazing show all by themselves! I remember being very surprised that they performed "Brown Eyes."

The clip that has been posted above attests to the fact that they didn't need support players to give a powerful performance. The song didn't sound anything like the studio version, and a live performance shouldn't attempt to sound exactly like that anyway. A steril studio recording and a live performance are entirely different animals.

From that tour, I liked the way they treated:

Second Hand News
The Chain
Don't Stop
Dreams
Rhiannon
Brown Eyes
Eyes of the World
Sara
Landslide
Sisters of the Moon

But I thought the following were better played in general on other tours:

Oh Well
Gypsy
Not That Funny
Never Going Back Again
Tusk
You Make Loving Fun
Blue Letter
Go Your Own Way
Songbird

And this one didn't take off for me at all:

Love in Store

So true! It took me a long time to appreciate the kind of sound they had in the Mirage concert -- it was so different to what I was used to hearing from their live DVDs -- but it's real and energetic and amazing.

I wish they'd like get a nice sounding quality version of that out on DVD or something. I don't even have a VHS player for it anymore

Yeah, this gives me chills everytime I watch it, especially the part right before the bass solo when Stevie and Lindsey are screaming at each other, "if you don't love me now!" etc. Goosebumps!

I think this was at the height of Stevie's awesomeness as a vocalist. I just love this tour and The White Winged Dove Tour. I think 1981-83 was her peak.

Same here. It's totally like they're ferociously dueling. God, I miss that passion!

Oh, they still fawn over each other, like they're gonna bump uglies, backstage.

For me, The Mirage tour is the only tour where The Chain sounds interesting live.

Oh, I don't care about that crap... it's all staged. What I miss is Stevie not acting like a zombie robot onstage. Lindsey still acts pretty fiery, though

She's an old lady, with granny hands. And while Lindsey's only a year younger that her, he absolutely carries the show. His energy is amazing, especially compared to her complete lack of energy.
