[Thank You, Andy Man]

Christine McVie’s return to Fleetwood Mac 'a poetic moment' for the band

Elizabeth MurrayTODAY Show

http://www.today.com/popculture/chri...41004_32875156

Members of legendary rock band Fleetwood Mac told TODAY's Lester Holt that they have reached "completeness" with the return of former member Christine McVie, who quit the group to live a quiet life in England in 1998.

"This is such a poetic moment for the band," Lindsay Buckingham said. "The fact that Christine wanted to return, the fact that we wanted her to come back at this particular time after having our own growth without her."

The keyboard player and vocalist spent more than six weeks in rehearsals, preparing her voice and her body for their nationwide tour. "You need to do it, you know," McVie said. "We're not getting any younger."

And the training paid off in Minneapolis on Monday, when the group kicked off their U.S. tour, and performed their first concert together in 16 years. "There was a sense of completeness," Mick Fleetwood said. "It's almost like it never happened that she went away."

"That's kind of how we feel," Stevie Nicks said. "Almost like she never left."

Between now and December 20, all five members of Fleetwood Mac will be on their 24-date tour, including a special TODAY concert on Thursday Oct. 9.

Stevie and mick say how it's like she never left while Lindsey felt compelled to mention how the band grew a lot in her absence

I thought that interesting myself, especially the "we were ready to let her back in..." part.

To be fair, I can see why he would mention the whole "grew in her absence"comment as he really was the one that kept Fleetwood Mac going for the last 16 years. I think it would be incredibly disappointing for him if the "Say You Will" album and the "EP" were never thought or spoken of again (even though they haven't played much of either release). Additionally, I'm sure he wants to have audiences keep in mind that the reason as to why they sound so good on this tour is because of the touring the band has done, specifically 2009 and 2013. It would be very easy for the media to completely ignore the work that was done, but realistically the only way Christine could have come back is if the band had kept active. If they had stopped everything after The Dance, Fleetwood Mac would be a distant memory.

He said "and we wanted her to come back," not that they were ready to let her back in.
