John's quote was just perfect, by the way.

Quote:
"Falling in love, falling out of love, being betrayed in love, that's what Fleetwood Mac songs are about, and that's what Fleetwood Mac is about."

The whole Steven Tyler convincing Christine to perform with Mick sounded like nonsense back when they said it and now she says she tapped Mick on the shoulder.

There would not have been a tour if Christine had not come back. There might have been a short additional leg, but not another full blown tour and with good reason. Even with Christine back I don't think this tour is well-advised, timing wise.

I don't think Stevie had a deadline to get a solo album out, but I think there definitely would have been a longer break from Fleetwood Mac all the way around.

Interesting how every time Christine mentions the studio sessions the interviewer changes the subject instead of asking about it.

It would seem that it was pretty much decided around this time last year, and then they possibly waited to see how everything would go with John's health before announcing it early this year.

Still, that doesn't negate -- as some have suggested -- the fact that Stevie had a solo commitment. Which may have even been negotiated before last year's tour kicked off. That certainly explains Stevie's comments in January of this year, regarding the fact that she wasn't sure exactly what she was going to be doing in the next few months. The logistics probably hadn't all been worked out yet.

At any rate, the Q&A with the First Ladies of Fleetwood Mac was really fun and interesting. And as someone who struggled with agoraphobic tendencies for almost 25 years, it's moving to hear Christine discuss her own struggles with it -- and it's inspirational to see her come out the other side of it.
I think the term "commitment" with regards to Stevie's album is misinterpreted....or maybe it's me....but I don't take it to mean a contractual obligation. I just see it as she wanted to do a solo album after the FM tour. Christine's return threw a wrench in that so she thought the quickest way to put an album out would be record her old demos. I don't think she's being forced to do a solo album by her record label. I think it's just her desire to do it.

I found the interview with Stevie fascinating in that she finally correlated the facts in Mick's first book about their relationship...with a little more detail. When it was released Stevie was angry and even implied that his version could be lies. Now it finally is verified. I think a lot of people didn't think Mick has has facts straight in the first book. And for her to admit the hurt it brought his family was pretty powerful. But did she turn around and have an affair with another married man later like some seem to think?

And, sorry folks, even though I know the new new footage was just a rehearsal, they looked bored to death playing Don't Stop again. They would have to be after 40 years of playing it, but it's their own fault for not changing things up. I wouldn't even mind that so much but to pay $200 - $300 + for a ticket makes it hardly worth the risk for me. I'm still holding out hope for a new album and another tour with at least a few new songs.

She clearly didn't, as she says in the current Rolling Stone interview:

This album was made very fast. When [John McVie] got cancer, we had to cancel our tour of Australia. I had some free time, and I thought, "Maybe I should make a record." All over the Internet, there are songs I wrote but never released, and people keep saying, "Why don't you record these songs for real?" I'd never had time to do that. Now I had an empty, precious three months.

And it definitely sounds like they would have indeed taken a long(er) break. In this CBS interview she says:

I think I would be probably better served to take a little bit of a break once in a while. The last time I actually had a real vacation was 2008. And I went to Mexico for three months. And I should do that every once in a while.
But it seems that every time I almost get to booking that trip -- we were not supposed to come back out on the road this year. And then Christine called and said, 'I'm back.' And then all of a sudden, shows went on sale and sold out in the beginning of February. So there was no time for that. So I kind of look at it as, well, I guess it's better to have a job than to not have a job!

so it seems it was Christine's calling them that got the whole ball rolling to get back out on tour and left Stevie with no time for her vacation but time to make an album.. which kind of makes no sense; you can't find time for a vacation in a 3 month window of time so instead you bust butt making an album that you hadn't originally planned on making….??

They look bored and super serious because you mentioned exactly what it is; rehearsal footage. Where they play the songs over and over and over in just one day to get it right without a crowd to even get them enthusiastic. They're just doing it in front of sound guys, lighting guys and their respective teams in a giant empty warehouse/soundstage. They even look bored in rehearsal footage from The Dance and Say You Will tours, I think they just find performing a set without fans tedious. It's obviously different when they have days off in between, new places, new arenas and thousands of fans cheering them on instead of 30-40 people.

And not 'changing it up'? Have you seen the articles and leaked setlist? That's quite a drastic change compared to the last decade of tours.
