Default Christine McVie radio tribute 7/6/23

https://kymnradio.net/2023/07/07/the...e-show-7-6-23/

It’s one hour and fifty-two minutes long, and is described as such:

“In anticipation of what would have been her 80th birthday, Rich and Danny honor the late great Christine McVie. This is the second installment of the boys’ unofficial look at Fleetwood Mac through the lens of the band’s three most famous singers and songwriters, but they offer a few of her solo songs as well, including two from her debut album when she recorded under her given name, the extremely appropriate, Christine Perfect.“

The lead guy's description of her was much more accurate than his co-host.

The co-host got it, and yet didn't get it.

I’ll have to re-listen. I remember one of them saying “you can’t talk about Christine McVie without talking about Fleetwood Mac, and you can’t talk about Fleetwood Mac without talking about Christine McVie.” That struck me as right.

I didn’t agree with either of them that Got a Hold on Me is a forgotten hit. I hear it quite a lot in stores and on adult contemporary channels.

I heard it yesterday on The Blend.

I think the co-host went so far as to say she didn't have a unique voice.

I think I may have scrubbed past that and didn’t notice. He clearly is….wrong. Entirely, completely, unreimbursably wrong…

I thought these two should sign up at the Ledge and learn a little something about Chris McVie.

Yes!! Let's have a discussion where we debate a subject we clearly didn't prepare for.

I just wanted to mention I was listening to Sirius' The Bridge this afternoon and they wished Christine a Happy Birthday and played "Think About Me."

Chris' keys and the blending of the singing voices in that song really touch the soul.

Someone sent it to me from their car! I caught the end of it.

I am blessed to have heard it live. I think it was the perfect song to wish her a Happy Birthday in Heaven.

“Got A Hold On Me” has been in my head all day.

I got that album early-ish in my fandom. I knew about it fairly early on, but I was more focused on the band, first. Weirdly, my mom found a copy of Christine Perfect at a record show we went to and bought it for me. She said “I bought you a copy of Christine McVie’s solo album!!!” I said, “Oh, yeah, the one where she was playing piano on a mountain,” and she said “No, she’s just sitting in a wicker chair.” So I took it out of the brown paper bag and was completely floored. That stayed in heavy rotation for a while. Probably a month or two later, I got the 1984 album and instantly recognized GAHOM. I remembered hearing it all the time on the radio.
