So, by your statement statement, you feel he should have hung all night trying to work it out, "on with the show" no matter the equipment issues? The ultimate responsbility is on the venue reporting correctly what equipment they have so a determination can be made by the performer as to whether the band CAN play there in the first place - according to the press release they failed to do that. Lindsey would certainly have scheduled elsewhere in Lincoln had the equipment details provided been straight...that is fact.

I also thought that it was in poor taste for the venue website to post that bit of info. Also, how did that venue know that people were traveling from far away to see the show? Maybe someone was lurking on The Ledge or something?

I agree. That's finger pointing. They're just offended that he didn't think their equipment was good enough. He decided not to play because they wouldn't let him use his equipment. Hey, guess what Rococo, it's HIS SHOW. God forbid they want to use the equipment they've rehearsed and become accustomed to.

BUT IT'S GOOD ENOUGH FOR THE OTHER BANDS THAT COME TO NEBRASKA!

The whole statement doesn't seem very "Director of Events"-like... Whatever.

LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM CANCELS LINCOLN CONCERT.

Lindsey Buckingham cancelled his Lincoln, NE concert last night (April 11,
2007) sighting issues he had with production due to his own management and
sound crew. Rococo staff and management were put off by his diva-like
behavior in declaring our beautiful facility a "f--king sh-thole" and
wondered if he always felt it necessary to be so rude to people who are
simply trying to put on a good show.
After an hour of sound check (and only one hour before doors) Lindsey
Buckingham rehearsed a couple of songs and proclaimed that he was done. I
can only speculate as to the disappointment of the six hundred and some odd
fans who arrived (from some very far away places) to find the show
cancelled.

As Director of Events I want to apologize on Lindsey's behalf. The Rococo
Theatre has never had a performer cancel a show. NEVER. Sound system and
the physical layout of the theatre are well known to the promoters that
brought Lindsey to Lincoln and any misrepresentation was not on the part of
the Rococo staff. In an effort to notify fans, the marquee was changed and
statements were issued to local radio stations immediately.

Online purchases through etix.com will automatically be refunded within a
week. If you purchased the tickets at the Rococo Box Office a staff member
will contact you in the coming days to arrange a refund.
like I said really no more tix than he's been selling, hey Lindsay your no Stevie Nicks stay home!

Moral to the story:

Play OKC instead, we have a BEAUTIFUL Civic Center that LB would cream himself to play.

OKC Civic Center Music Hall (A GREAT venue!!!):

Wow, that Rococo post from the website is hilarious. Very tacky. Oh to have been a fly on the wall yesterday when all this was going down! I do hope that Lindsey's people are able to arrange for a NE venue that will satisfy his needs and allow the fans who live in the middle of nowhere to see a show. My aunt and her family live in NE. There were like 18 people in my cousins' entire high school. People out there need something to look forward to!

Story from an Omaha TV station:

http://www.ketv.com/entertainment/11736769/detail.html

OMAHA, Neb. -- Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham canceled his concert in Lincoln Wednesday because of what he considered an inadequate sound system at the Rococo Theatre.

But the venue's managers said Buckingham's "diva-like behavior," not the sound system, was the problem. Buckingham has been touring in support of his solo album, "Under the Skin."

In a message on Buckingham's Web site, "technical difficulties related to sound" were blamed for the cancellation. Buckingham's message said the theater in downtown Lincoln refused Buckingham's request to use his own equipment to supplement the sound system.

The Rococo's Pam Gregorios said Buckingham was rude to the theater's staff and didn't decide to cancel until about an hour before showtime.

Ticket holders will receive refunds.

Yeah, maybe. Imagine an entire show of Lindsey unplugged? It could have been fabulous. It would have taken a lot of flexibility and creativity, and grace, on Lindsey's part to be able to accept that things weren't as planned and move from there. The man's got a voice, and mad guitar skills...He could have pulled something out with much less equipment than the venue had to offer--even with nothing but himself and his acoustic guitar. Imagine
how special it would have been to witness something so spontaneous. A once in a lifetime experience.

Of course it's an awful lot to ask of any artist, but it could be done.

At this point I think I might be arguing just to argue, so I'll leave it at that and enjoy the rest of this discussion from the sidelines.

I'm surprised this is the first time this happened to Lindsey on this tour since he's played some small venues. I guess the fans in New Mexico tomorrow and Saturday will be in for a great show! I'm sure Lindsey will want to put everything in to these shows and leave what happened in Nebraska behind him.
