I think Stan's thanksgiving speech was baiting.

Default Which thread?

Set my alarm to wake me up this morning.
Guess what was playing?

The Mac Is Back.

I felt like calling 96.1 The Rocket and letting
them know that they should make it clear to
fans that this isn't the real Fleetwood Mac.

Weird timing.

Well, it isn’t exactly Stretch, either. It has Fleetwood, McVie, and McVie, the core of twelve (arguably fourteen in Mr. W and KH are included) studio albums, two live albums, and an album’s worth of b-sides and new songs on comps. It’s not the classic Fleetwood Mac, but it’s most definitely the real Fleetwood Mac.

Neat, maybe I can hit Tacoma too. I’m front row center for Portland.

so when they wanted to replace John McVie when he got cancer back in 2013, and Christine hasn't rejoined yet - what was THAT according to you Steve?

certainly not Fleetwood Mac, right?

So if you bought a bottle of All Saints Museum Muscadelle
wine. Then poured out 20% (or more*), and replaced it with
water. You'd still consider that a real bottle of Museum Muscadelle?

*Lindsey is way more than 20% of the Mac.

He's at least 40%.

It would have been a temporary situation due to an illness, just like when Steve Rinkov took over on drums for a song when Mick got sick.. John would still have been a member of Fleetwood Mac. Really no different than when The Beatles had a temporary fill-in for Ringo when he got sick. However, to their credit, Fleetwood Mac canceled the rest of the tour.

Fleetwood Mac tarnished their legacy last year by not crediting that album to Fleetwood Mac. This new lineup has nothing to do with the band’s legacy.

It’s obvious now that Stevie’s people have been calling the shots for years, and everybody plays along. Including Lindsey. By agreeing to release the album as something other than what it was and sticking to the “it just felt like a duet album” script, Lindsey showed he was every bit as capable and willing to tow the company line and ceded any future creative aspirations for the band, all to pacify a certain someone. He also played a part in the tarnishing of the band’s legacy, and frankly his own legacy. But, when he began straying from the company line and started making waves, he got the boot. I’d have more respect for him if he told them that it’s either a Fleetwood Mac album or he was taking his songs and walking away from the band altogether.

Don’t bullsh*t yourselves. They (ALL of them) don’t care about the band’s legacy and haven’t in a long, long time. They all play along and get their bag of money. Credit to Lindsey, at least he was eventually honest about it.

So, as a fan of the band’s overall body of work, I’m at least excited to hear a few songs I never dreamed I’d get to hear live. Maybe hearing more of that legacy they apparently only just tarnished will make me better appreciate just how badly they tarnished it.

you can't credit them for that though, because it's not really true. we know they tried their hardest and auditioned replacements. supposedly MF and SN wouldn't relent before receiving the info they won't lose the money if they cancel.

I'd call it "Mick Fleetwood's Private Cellar", something else he was trying to hawk as a collection of fine spirits...at Costco!
