Most of her Fleetwood Mac songs are great because of the contributions of many: multiple musicians, vocalists, and producers combining their talents to make an outstanding work of art.

That said, her solo work quite frankly is weak. I cannot listen to her albums. I own all of them because I wanted to like them being such a FM fan for so long, and yet am NEVER compelled to listen to any of it... truly, NEVER. Whenever I have in the past, I get bored immediately. Her best song, as already mentioned, was gifted to her by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers after she basically stalked and hounded him. So she added vocals: big whoopee.

I will never understand why people love her solo work or pay big bucks to hear her sing it. I feel like any number of musicians could produce similar quality. It's no where close to her FM tracks and we all know why. /rant over

(side note: I've never understood why Fleetwood Mac agreed to perform Stand Back for so many tours. As if they don't have enough FM songs to choose from! I simply don't get it... except for Stevie throwing her weight around.)
On the Nicks Fix some time ago Sharon Celani answered this very question and said it was because Lindsey's absence made it hard to fill the set list so they did two of her solo songs. I was thing WTH??? You have tons of FM songs to chose from.

Remember, they performed "Go Insane" as a band in 2009. Also, they let Lindsey do it solo in 1997.

I understand that Stevie broke the precedent with "Stand Back" (unless you count "Don't Let Me Down Again," which broke a similar if not identical precedent).

But Celani's answer makes sense to me. The band needed to do more songs by the ladies, and opted for hits like "Stand Back" over songs like "Storms" "Sisters Of The Moon" "Beautiful Child" and "That's Alright." They were trying to capitalize on Stevie's solo success at a time when its fortunes without Lindsey were an open question, and that song (the song itself, not the studio recording of it) suited Fleetwood Mac.

Stand Back I always assumed was to balance Go Insane.

Which came first the chicken or egg, not sure.

They started doing "Stand Back" in 1987 (before they added "Go Insane").

They started doing Stand Back in 1987, and did HAEWAFY instead of Landslide on that tour.

What did Christine say against Lindsey since she came back? Or Mick since 1977? Stevie is not the only he talks bad about in that interview. They fired him, yes, but that is not even your argument, even if that would have been a good one.

At least that's a real joke. I never liked Waddy's stage work either. Pretentious, at best...

His playing always seemed to have the subtlety of a porcupine. Those early solo Gypsy’s were horrible all around.

What? What a nonsensical response.

i was confused too.

Lindsey just reiterated what Christine has been trying to say since fakewood CBS interview - and they conveniantly kept cutting out that part to be able to sell that "majority rules" / "nobody in the band was on his side" crap. seems pretty obvious Lindsey and Chris are ok.

there are 3 people LB took some digs at in his recent truth serum interviews - Stevie, Azoff, and Mick. Azoff for being a crappy manager, Mick for being money-whore, having bad judgement and no self-editing skills, and Stevie for being a coup instigator craving attention, while creatively barren (no vitality).

i find it also interesting that Azoff screamed at Lindsey. because isn't "screaming" what poor Nicks supposedly had enough of from LB and so she had to get rid of him to be happyhappyhappy? maybe now she has Azoff screaming at her instead?

When did they say nobody in the band was on his side? I always thought the “majority rules” comment was specifically to protect Christine. Christine made it pretty clear she wasn’t involved in the decision.

Hmmm...

Whereas I am not surprised in the least bit by that. It’s like Lindsey did something that annoyed him.
