Default New Fleetwood Mac Song Released In Two Weeks!

According to an article on MSN music article (Source: Nicks Blog Spot), one of the two new Fleetwood Mac songs will be released in two weeks. However, Stevie says Lindsey put his "lead" vocals on "both" songs, so it sounds like they may both be his.

But now it’s a reality, with the 34-city tour kicking off on April 4 and tickets going on sale as early as Friday, Dec. 14. And that’s not all. A deluxe version of “Rumours” will come out with the tour and will include unreleased outtakes and live songs. Plus, the band – Buckingham, Nicks, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie – has recorded two new songs to be released before the tour – one in just a few weeks.

Of course they are both his - I'm not sure where the vibe that they might not be came from. The song that Stevie recorded was one from the BN era.

I think peeps were confused because she CHOSE one of Lindsey's songs and Lindsey chose one of his own songs for Stevie to put vocals on.

Somehow that got confused with Stevie choosing one of her own songs? or something...

eta: So it sounds like January for the first single. Very exciting. Glad they are being released as singles. That is as it should be. I don't like EPs because I don't make a Best EP of the Year List. haha

Fleetwood Mac helped me through a time of heartbreak. 12 years later, they broke my heart.

Ugh. Although maybe I can finally get that copy of Second Hand News that appears in the Classic Albums doc. Y'know, the one with the electric guitar playing the lead vocal melody in the chorus. That'd be sweet. It's also surely one of the only remaining outtakes we've yet to be given....

Question

It really irks me that Stevie doesn't think the fans want new Fleetwood Mac music. I mean she put out a CD with new music & it did OK. Yeah, I'd take an EP, but I'd rather have a whole CD with new songs. And I know they got a few new songs between her & Lindsey.

Stevie and Lindsey both seem to think this (although, it could be that Stevie's opinions rubbed off on him).

I don't know why they would get that impression, at all. I've hardly seen people flooding the boards or attending their concerts with signs saying "No new music, ever! Just the same songs we've heard over and over for the past 30 years please!"

Really, though. What.

Sure the fan base wants new stuff - unfortunately we aren't going to cause them to go platinum....

Of course not. But they need to rephrase themselves, in that case: it's not the FANS who aren't interested in new music, it's the general public.

Then why don't they make an effort and record an album that will get people's interest? And, just a sarcastic thought, why not promote it while on tour?

I don't think that's their fault. You're just not gonna get enough 10-14 year olds into FM - who are all pushing 70...

True, but there was a time when FM were actually happy to sell 300-500,000 albums. Like many people here, I am just frustrated by the fact that Rumours - as much as I love it - is the be all and end all. And now we're getting yet another re-release of that one, while Mirage, Tango and Mask are slowly written out of history, let alone Mystery, Heroes and Bare Trees. Why not at least give us decent double-disc reissues of their whole catalogue and promote those with a tour?

Point blank. If it didn't sell WAY better than SYW--think Eagles numbers--then they would not think it is worth it. And they would be correct in guessing it won't sell better.
