Default Wilson Phillips "Go Your Own Way"

has anyone heard this? It's on a new album by Wilson Phillips called "California" - it's all California remakes (including some Beach Boys and Mama's and Papas). The version of GYOW is slow, not what I expected and while the album got a decent review I am not too thrilled with the album (I had to buy it to hear GYOW of course). When they released their first album in the early 90s I loved it - maybe I am too old now or my tastes have changed but I was a bit disappointed with this.

Interested if anyone else heard it? and thoughts? I remember on the Rumours tribue GYOW was also slowed down.

Lauren

I heard it on the radio the other day...didn't like it at all. I did like Wilson Phillips' first album, but this version of GYOW was just too mellow and "sweet" for me. Haven't heard any of their other songs on the new album. How are they?

I've hear mention of it but haven't heard the actual songs. I did read another comment by someone that it was slowed down and not as good as Lindsey's version.Personally I don't like covers of Mac songs but that is just me=:-)I would like to hear the rest of the album, because I was a fan of Wilson Phillips when they had their first couple of albums.

LOL! That definitely sums it up. It's really pathetic and I can't believe the amount of press and airplay they're getting with this song. Drives it home how screwed up the music business is right now.

I actually don't mind this version... I'm not a WP fan but other then the original, this isn't too bad - nice change to the song. Wouldn't want to hear someone TRY to be like Lindsey and FM, that would be pathetic, so to change it up to make it there own is taking a chance... but they didn't do so bad - They do have nice harmonies...

As a principle, I agree, but changing it into elevatormuzak is plain unforgivable.

Yes, Lauren! I agree -- I bought the album just to hear GYOW, and was disappointed in the entire album. GYOW was mediocre at best (!), and the rest just didn't sound too inspired to me.

This CD will be going to a buy/trade store in the near future...

~~~I read somewhere that WP pretty much stuck to the original recorded interpretation, except for GYOW.~~~
I think it's sappy and it sucks. They sang it this morning on Regis and Kelly and when they were done Kelly didn't even say anything.
Oh man I missed Regi's and Kelly! I would have loved to have seen Kelly's speechlessness
At least the Cranberries did a decent cover of GYOW that stayed true to the original. WP took all the anger and force from the song and made it as someone said, "elevator music."
