Haha! True, but it does sound like buck passing. Of course they want to blame the artist.

The whole thing is really unfortunate, but it sounds like they were waiting to see if Neale would heal, be able to make it later. I understand not rescheduling for next year is disappointing, but we don't know all the ends and outs, schedules, and other business that goes on behind the scenes, like Miranda mentioned. I think in this situation, miscommunication was inevitable. Really sorry for the fans. Maybe things will work out next year anyway.

I didn't realize how close it was to the
actual show dates. No way he could
have replaced Neale with that short of
notice.

But he could have rescheduled the dates
and added another guitar player unless
ticket sales were so poor they were just
trying to cut their losses.

I don't know if her schedule would have
allowed it or not, but Janet Robin would
have been a great choice to replace Neale.
I doubt it would have taken her very long
to fit in considering she's already toured
with Lindsey once.

I'm sure the U.K. Ledgies would have appreciated
that consideration. And in this modern era, how
hard would it be for Lindsey to make a short YouTube
video comment about the tour cancellation? A little
goodwill goes a long way.

I think a replacement would be too far out of LB's comfort zone. He's worked so closely with Neale & Brett for so long - both solo and with FM - and there are the "extras" involved in the show which probably makes it even more difficult to just get another guitar player who could learn all those dynamics.

It would be nice if LB would make a comment, release a statement or even hand write a person note on his stationery to post on his website...

hand write? that sounds so 20th century... i think people would generally put some update/statement on their website. if an artist/management uses twitter to let people know what's going on they may do that, but LB doesn't.

As I mentioned before, it was too short of notice for a replacement. I don't know if you follow Janet or her schedule, but she is constantly touring the country for her solo work (& super talented. Check out her stuff!). She hasn't toured with Lindsey in quite a long time and would have to learn new material and sacrifice her own solo engagements. It's hard to find someone with an open schedule on short notice, get them to learn the material AND have LB feel comfortable with the dynamics. If you have seen any of the US shows(or YouTube videos), you would see that when Lindsey introduces the guys, he introduces them as his Brothers. Until 4 days before, Neale was trying to go. He wanted to go and he feels bad for everything that happened. He's having a pretty back surgery in about a week, so that goes to show how intense his pain and medical situation must have been for them to schedule him with something like three weeks notice. It's not that I'm defending anyone, but I know that they really tried to work in new dates and that management has control over it and not LB personally.

I agree it would be very classy of LB to post a message from him on his site. I know if I was affected by this it would mean the world to me. And he is a classy guy.

I hope the best for Neale and that he's back in action asap! I'll always have a soft spot for Neale as the pick I retrieved from the stage in Vancouver (that LB was using) has Neale Heywood on the back

Well, he hasn't yet... Never say never. Personally, I would love it if he would hand write a note and have it posted on his site. Maybe even add a nice little drawing of a guitar or a black leather jacket at the bottom. It would be cute.

Thanks for shedding all the light. I'm sure once everyone calms down they'll understand how difficult these situations can be and hope for a speedy recovery for Neale and look forward to whatever 2012 will hold.

Thank you indeed, for shedding some light on this Even though it's not your job, you show a lot of class taking the time when you certainly must have plenty of other things on your mind right now. Please pass on our good wishes to Neale for his upcoming surgery.

Thank you to Miranda for taking the time to share all the info.

It's a sad state of affairs, but I personally know it isn't LB's fault as it was pretty much beyond his control. I am so sorry for all the fans, but hopefully things will work out for you all in the very near future. I'm hoping.

As of the Wednesday before (the guys were supposed to head to UK on that Sunday), Neale was still hoping he could pull it all off. He was advised by his doctor that under no circumstances was that a good idea and no one wanted him to have any sort of set back and be away from a specialist. Before the postponement was announced a day or two later, dates were already in the works to be rescheduled. Lindsey wouldn't have had time to find a replacement and trust them to learn all the music in time for the UK shows to start, and as far as everyone was concerned, Neale would have the operation, recover and be able to attend the rescheduled dates. That was the plan. Recently, it was found that there is no way to reschedule all of the dates. The December dates were already in the works in July, so that's nearly six months ago. I'm sure this wasn't anybody's first choice and I don't see how things were handled unprofessionally from LB's end. The only thing that LB did was say to his friend, "Get better and we'll reschedule." I can say first hand that I know there is no FM tour being planned for next year and that there isn't anything fishy going on. LB's management has been trying to handle this series of events with what little time notice they had. The cancellation is pricey. The equipment was already shipped over and venues have fines for postponing, and even heavier fines for canceling. I'm so sorry for all of you had tickets bought, made travel arrangements and were looking forward to Lindsey's first trip "across the pond." I'm surprised LB's website hasn't been updated yet (that is my only complaint for how it's been handled), but I wouldn't be surprised to see a statement from LB in the future. Again, I'm sorry to those of you who are disappointed, but I can promise you that no one saw this coming. I'm not sure if this clears anything up for anyone, but I'm trying. Here's to a happier, healthier 2012 and hopes that they'll make their way over there soon!
Thanks for the information. It is great that someone associated with Lindsey/ Fleetwood Mac is nice enough to comment. If you could answer this, I'd appreciate it. Why couldn't Lindsey still have the Meet and Greet that was planned? That would have been him alone (right?). I'm sure a lot of fans would love to just have this without a concert.

What is done is done and what is lost is lost and gone forever.
There is no point in complaining about dates, schedules, band members anything anymore.

Miranda has taken the time and explained it in pretty much black and white.
Thanks Miranda.

I'm sorry for Lindsey and Co too i am sure he lost a small fortune due to this.

Ticketbastard refunded me £590 in tickets today, and two weeks before christmas so im happy about that.

so, in order to please, lindsey should provide the following information via a hand-written note, a tweet, a website announcement, and/or a youtube video?

"The tour has been cancelled due to injury. We are unable to re-schedule at this time."

I find that ridiculous.

Neale is obviously undergoing a serious operation for a serious injury of which no one knows the outcome. I am proud Lindsey has not re-scheduled the tour at this time -- that would put a lot of pressure on Neale for the healtime as well certainly the fans would be disappaointed again should the tour have to be postponed or cancelled again.

IMO how Lindsey et al have handled this situation is to be commendable. If I was as laid out at Neale is, having put everything I had into the tour thus far, I would want, pray for, my bossy to have that kind of consideration for me.

GO TEAM BUCKINGHAM!

That's pretty easy for you to say when you haven't been messed around with the lack of information and communication between all involved parties. I do feel sorry for Neale. I really do. But we deserve a little respect too. Not whatever is tossed to us in terms of rumours and half truths. It should have been made plain ASAP when they knew the dates couldn't be met that they were cancelled. Not treated as chinese whispers between Lidnsey's team, Ticket Master, Live Nation, whoever else is involved. His site STILL says postponed. Somebody's dropping the ball there.
